Re: South Central Fly-in

Not really sure. what's the tease? "show me your lederhosen!"

I may have to bum a ride. Should have the plane flying by then, but then again they told me six weeks down when we started at end of October. Still a big hole were the panel should be.

Re: South Central Fly-in

Ok, so, barbecue on friday afternoon at 4r2. Then fly to T82 and overnight for a gathering for brunch on the 18. Is that the plan? Seems like If I can make it I'd be stopping at 4f2 anyway for gas and directions....

Re: South Central Fly-in

I got a $30 discount at the Hangar Hotel for all if you can decide on a day. We need to get them reserved due to the other activities. Let me know and I'll finalize it for the fly-in.

Re: South Central Fly-in

I would be down for a Friday night. The Saturday night looks like it might be a bit crazy with that Karneval thing happening in the conference center. The ticket cost is silly high and the activities don't interest me either.

My 2 pennies worth.

Re: South Central Fly-in

I thought we were down for the 18th? MB and I would be up for that, raucous German parties or not!

Re: South Central Fly-in

The 18th at T82 is the plan. It looks like the big bash for the Winter Karnival is the evening of the 18th at the hanger hotel. Details for this can be found here: http://www.karnevalfasching.com/ It doesn't sound like the airport is going to be the focal point of the Karnival until in the evening.

Lets shoot for the 18th at Noon. Noon will give everyone time to make it even if we run into some early morning fog.

At this point, the roster looks like this:

Byrne B. 1297J
Scott S. 4843W
David L. 114BL
Craig C. 4591W
Bob H 1376J
Doug D. 1254J
Ian C. 56CV
Gary C. 1825J
Jay B. 6029B
Alex S. 900CD
Herman L 1043J

If your name is on the list and you are not planning on flying in, let me know and if you are planning on making it to Fredricksburg but we don't have your name down, post a confirmation. I'll keep the list updated.

Is that 18 of jan? Must be feb?

Re: South Central Fly-in

18th of February

Re: South Central Fly-in

OK, I have set up a deal for the Hangar Hotel for the 18th for all interested in staying there. Those of you, like myself, who come in on the 17th the same applies. Point of contact is Garrett, but just ask for the Commander Fly-In rate. It is $30 off the regular rate. I have blocked 10 rooms but can get more if needed. Call in and reserve your room NLT the 11th of Feb. at which time they will release the remainder of rooms to the general public. Fly in cancellations due to weather can be same day of reservation up until noon CST. Check-in time is 3:00 PM and most importantly, the Officer's Club is open Friday and Saturday from 5:00 till approx. midnight. Any questions, drop me a note.

Re: South Central Fly-in

I am booked.

Re: South Central Fly-in

I booked this afternoon but was not able to get "Garrett". I was told $169 rate and minimum of 48 hours to cancel.

Craig, Bob, what rate were you given? $30 off the regular rate would have been $149. I'm not so concerned about the cancellation time. I plan to arrive Friday night the 17th.

Re: South Central Fly-in

$149 block of rooms under "Commander Fly-in" and those that are flying in (which should be all) cancellation is before noon on the first day booked if for weather. Either talk to Garret or have them talk to him. He is an old acquaintance and I know he will honor what I posted.

Re: South Central Fly-in

I had previously made my reservation at the original rate before they had established a "Commander" rate. I called back and requested that they adjust it accordingly and they did with no problem.

Re: South Central Fly-in

Marge & I are booked. See you there. How does this golden tire award thing work? Do I get to pass it on to someone else? <grin>

Re: South Central Fly-in

Get there early so you can judge landings of the others. Pull together an impromptu judging panel and award that fella. (or wait 'til the fall for the annual shennanigans)

Bill are you going?

Re: South Central Fly-in

Would love to but can't during that week. Client fugue in the SE. Target is 15 meetings, 11 cities, four states, all in 5 days. Only possible with GA. (and a little cooperation from Ma Nature) If Barbara comes along this trip, will likely add a couple days of R&R for her on a beach somewhere whilst I motor about and a sidetrip to DC to visit the daughter. Mebbe harass the Bunns if the skeds are amenable.

Re: South Central Fly-in

I have bagged my plan to fly 43W to Monterrey. Just too much hassle, not to mention the other issues, like getting shot, hijacked, etc. Going commercial to and from San Antonio. So the best I can do is get up to Hanger Hotel by 3 or so. Are a lot of folks planning on staying over Saturday night? Have to decide weather just to fly out of SAT on Saturday and go home, or stay over, go to Fly-In, fly home Sunday. But I have to be on the East Cost Monday evening. Crazy.

I am actually going to leave my bird in Texas because I need it down there for trips 2 weeks later, and have trips up north in between. Too much chance of getting flumoxed by WX getting from TX to VA this time of year. This is very, very complicated.

Scott,
That is a bummer. I was looking forward to your stories when you got back from Mexico. We have your call sign for you, on your return. We will save it for the FlyIn this summer.
Have a nice trip
Pat

Re: South Central Fly-in

Yeah ... I looked into it hard and when I added it all up, it did not come close to making sense. Well, I have seldom let that stop me in the past, I know.
