Re: South Central Fly-in

If I fly solo that might be more like 600lbs of Abita beer.
Just saying'.

600 lbs would be getting close to Rick Langel at Oshkosh levels! Yikes! :D

Re: South Central Fly-in

Don't forget to allow weight for a tent & sleeping bag. I suppose if there is enough to drink we won't have to worry about that however.

Re: South Central Fly-in

As my Delta ride from Monterrey MX nonstop to Detroit passed over Hill Country on Saturday afternoon, looking down, it appeared that I made the right decision to leave the bird in TX and come back commercial. Left her in a Hangar at 1T7 Kestral. Really great people there (but avoid 1T8 just south.) Boerne Stage at $20/night for a ramp tie down (that is NOT a misprint) and a buck or more higher for fuel that everyone else around is a nice airport, but a lousy bargain.

Re: South Central Fly-in

Yea, Saturday was not good, but it looked like Sunday was Beautiful. Missed by only one or two days.

Re: South Central Fly-in

That's awesome!

Re: South Central Fly-in

Jessica Biel still looks good in the cockpit even after all these years...Only positive thing about the F37...

Re: South Central Fly-in

It's getting close so I wanted to bring this up again. Just got back from Sun 'n Fun so my camping gear is ready to go. (Didn't see any Commanders Tuesday through Thursday at Sun 'n Fun. May have been some in transiet parking but none out at the camp ground)

Would be nice to have some Commanders down at Critters Lodge so I'll have someone to talk to besides RV8, Cub, Bonanza, and decathalon drivers.

How about meeting up for the Dillard Ranch "Critters Lodge" fly-in April 20-22nd. I went last year and it was a BLAST!. GREAT grass strip, lots of planes (around 100) Great home cooked food.

Check out the info at http://www.funplacestofly.com/events...?EventID=12242

More info on Dillard Ranch: http://www.critterslodge.org/

Re: South Central Fly-in

I saw 3 commanders there. 29B, 4DM and one other I don't remember the tail number. But I didn't get to meet the owners.
Is there a hotel close, My bride thinks camping is Black and white TV at the Hilton.

Re: South Central Fly-in

Camping is out of the question for my better half but Dillard Ranch looks like a really nice place.

Re: South Central Fly-in

Saw 3 Commanders parked real close to each other at SnF (753G, 1977J, and can't remember the other one). Think it was last Saturday or Sunday, left my card and contact info in the door on each but never saw or heard from anyone. All 3 airplanes were gone when I went back later.

Going to try and make this fly-in if back in time, headed back to SnF Monday (driving) to pick up a 1940 Taylorcraft that I couldn't say no to....

Re: South Central Fly-in

If you saw 6029B I didn't get your card...I would have invited you to our cook out

Re: South Central Fly-in

Sorry we missed! We'll try to connect next time.

Re: South Central Fly-in

Is anyone up for a "quickie fly-in" on Saturday somewhere in the area? Other than Breakfast at Pineville LA, (which is a great fly-in breakfast for those of you who havn't been there) I don't have anything planned so I wanted to see if there was an interest in putting something together for tomorrow or Sunday.

I'd really like to see some other commanders... I'm getting real tired of looking at RV's, Cubs, Decathalons and Bearhawks.

Re: South Central Fly-in

In Baton Rouge now, Gulfport tonight. Might have an early breakfast meeting in the morning. Could do a late morning or early lunch in Pineville, LA. then headed to Gaston's tomorrow night. Have to be in Memphis late Sunday afternoon.

Re: South Central Fly-in

Hey Scott, How long are you staying in Memphis? I was also wondering what airport are you going to be flying into? General Dewitt Spain airport has some cheaper fuel....don't land in Memphis unless you want to pay high dollar for fuel. I'm off on Monday and would like to meet!

Scott.... Pineville is a "breakfast only" deal... put on by the local EAA chapter so by lunch it will be over. How about meeting up in Hot Springs? It's more or less on the way, they always seem to have cars available, and there are some good places to eat.

If you're "in" let me know apx. ETA (looks to be about 2.5 hours from gulfport with today's 20kt headwind)

Anyone else in the area want to go to Hot Springs Saturday?

Re: South Central Fly-in

Hot Springs for Lunch would work well. My breakfast in Gulfport is tentative. will let you know.
