2011 Sedona Fly-In News

Re: 2011 Sedona Fly-In News

Blaine,

I'm still carrying around your mug from last year. What dates are you in LEX and when in HXD? I am expecting my bird back w/ a fresh engine in a couple of weeks and need to make some low altitude break-in runs. I can work LEX in if you are in town.

Re: 2011 Sedona Fly-In News

We stopped in Sedona yesterday. Attached is a photo from the view point at the airport. Sorry for the quality of the photo, I took it with my cell.

Rob has prepared an informative presentation you won't want to miss. He also got us a sponsor!!! I will announce more about it tomorrow.

Looking forward to Sedona!

Re: 2011 Sedona Fly-In News

Reserving a car with Sedona Car Rental was easy. I called and spoke with Debbie who took my info and cc over the phone. She suggested everyone go online and input your info for your car rental to expedite the process when you arrive. She also said if anyone needs to arrive before or after hours to let them know and they will make arrangements for you. Their hours at the airport is 9-5. You will not find better rates any where else in Sedona! She forwards office phone to her cell, so always available at 928.282.2227.

Re: 2011 Sedona Fly-In News

You know ... not bitching but I just have to ask ... $60 for a buffet on Friday night? Is that for one person? Or is Jimmy Buffet coming to perform? Or are we having caviar and Kobe beef? Just curious. If it is because it is open bar that helps explain it but then, Lonnie is not coming so you just cut the bar tab in half.

Re: 2011 Sedona Fly-In News

Not open bar - "cash Bar" and yes a bit pricy for a buffet.

Re: 2011 Sedona Fly-In News

Cindy and I are looking forward to seeing everyone this year. Just mad car, hotel and COG reservations. Arriving 23rd, and heading back on the 25th. See you all there!

Re: 2011 Sedona Fly-In News

Thanx Vince, I'll look forward to the t-shirt of Sedona, I was there last time nice location for a fly in. Bill, will be in Lex until mid Sept. then to HXD. Will welcome you in either location. Pete, thanx for remembering the greatest generation, there's not too many of us still around. Could you possibly save me a coffee mug if you furnish them again, I'll pay.
Regards to all,
Blaine & Sue

Re: 2011 Sedona Fly-In News

Blaine,

Expect to have the engine installed w/in two weeks so LEX WILL BE one of my break-in runs. I'll give you a heads up once the bird is signed off. Understand the FBO is in some new digs now.

Re: 2011 Sedona Fly-In News

Scott - this is Sedona. It's $40 just for a hamburger around there :)

A word of caution to those of you who bring a guest who likes to shop - lot's of beautiful 'stuff' but you can smoke a credit card pretty quickly!

And don't forget the wine festival. We can all watch Dawn demonstrate how many cases of wine can be fit into the back of a Commander...

Re: 2011 Sedona Fly-In News

Last chance to sign-up for Friday Night Buffet, Saturday BBQ at the Airport and COG Commemorative Polo Shirts!

It's been brought to my attention that when registering for the Sedona Fly-In, some members may have inadvertently missed Step Two on the Registration site. Step Two is the location to sign up for the Friday Night Buffet at the Poco Diablo Resort, the Saturday afternoon BBQ at the airport, and Commemorative COG Polo Shirts. While these items are all optional, most members have elected to purchase them.

If you intended to participate in the Buffet and/or BBQ, and purchase one or more polo shirts and haven't done so already, please go to Step Two on the Registration page and do so before August 19th. No shirts orders will be taken after that date.

Thanks, and look forward to seeing everyone in Sedona.

Re: 2011 Sedona Fly-In News

Greetings, Unfortunately during annual we just found a long crack in the flapper of our
air box. It will not be repaired in time to make the fly-in so we are selling our studio
time share if anybody is interested.

It begins 9/20 at the Sedona Summit Resort. It is a Studio Unit that sleeps up to 4
people and we are only asking $700.00 and it is for a full 7 days so that is $100.00 per
day. More information on resort can be found at www.rci.com Resort #4038. If anybody
is interested contact my wife at ortegan@yahoo.com

I understand this is not a for sale site, but maybe this can help someone who otherwise
couldn't go...

Have fun, I will be pulling rivets.

Len

Re: 2011 Sedona Fly-In News

Having these during football season is really tough for me. Dick Rutan is a great guest, I would have loved to attend this year. Even the distance isn't so bad, but we just bought a lake house outside of Ann Arbor and the SDSU game (intrigue with Brady Hoke being hired form there) is not one I'm willing to miss. Maybe next year.

Re: 2011 Sedona Fly-In News

Regret to say that up until an hour ago, I was 100% in. But just had another project pushed back till next year ...that is about 6 of them now, all happened in July and August as the government fiasco progressed. The builders are scared to death now, and I cannot blame them for that. We were having a good first half of the year, then everything just stopped on July 1.

So as the owner and trying to keep all of these families fed, I am going to have to put the sales hat on for the next 2 or 3 months and try to save the year (and save the plane with it.) After making I think 7 in a row, that is 2 in a row I am missing. At least last year I was in Australia -- a much better excuse.

Oh, I know how this works ...

First, you get a polite litte message. Then, if you don't pay someone shows up on your doorstep with a couple of friends and some baseball bats.

Why do they always pick an Italian guy to do the collections work?
