SuperStream

Re: SuperStream

Hi All,

The first wave will be 17 SuperStream Commanders.

Thanks very much for all the enthusiasm and support.
It helps me help you.

Re: SuperStream

Hi Jim

I'd like to come on board and have the mod done during my annual in Feb next year any chance of it being fully STC'd and EASA fit by then.

You can knock the $10 you owe me off the price :-)

Regards

Re: SuperStream

Hi David,

Thanks for your interest.

We just finished flying the FAA-approved flight test plan yesterday and I expect the FAA STC to issue in about 2 weeks. EASA acceptance should be a simple administrative exercise, but it's probably a bit tight to expect them to turn it around before Feb.

Re: SuperStream

Hi All,

SuperStream is now an STC! SA00306BO, Aerodyme's 7th STC for the Commander fleet. With your continued support, there can be many more.

I was just checking the performance of my 114 SuperStream demonstrator, N1931J, against the 114 and 114B books:

10,000 MSL, standard temp, gross, full throttle, at 2400 RPM:

114 POH = 140 KTAS
114B POH = 145 KTAS
N1931J SuperStream Commander = 155 KTAS

The 31J numbers were taken last week on my return from the FAA TIA acceptance flights. To split hairs, her weight was approx 150 lbs under gross,
but the temp was actually IAS + 5C, so those factors pretty much average out. She is fast, there is no doubt about it!

31J has the T4B5 engine, still 260HP but with Slick mags. She has NONE of the usual B model speed mods.

That is insane. Great job, Jim. So ... I may as well be the first because everyone wants to know .. what's the cost?

Oh ... and how many inches MP were you pulling at 10,000' ?

Re: SuperStream

Want that!

Doing math here; 15 KTAS improvement for the straight 114.

WOW !

Re: SuperStream

Jim I am hoping for 20 kts and 5gph flows.lol

Re: SuperStream

Hi Alex,

Agreed, that is the math, but I still scratch my head about how 31J has become so fast. She does 164 at mid weight in standard air at a few thou MSL. She was re-weighed for the test flights, and her ASI was cal checked, so no errors there.

Certainly, I don't expect to see this gain on all aircraft, but clearly I am onto something.

Re: SuperStream

I was hoping for 200 kts and taking off with 20 gallons of fuel and landing with full tanks.

I'm curious about the induction on 31J. Is the factory original contraption still installed, or did you switch to the 90-degree horn ala 7XY and the 114B models?

As you know, with the T4B5D in 7XY we picked up a bit with the change in induction system and air filter. I'd say I'm on par with the 114B now, as I regularly see 145KTAS in the 8 - 10k altitudes. And the engine just loves 2400 rpm (even temps at that point, and they start to spread if I get the rpm wrong).

Re: SuperStream

Hi Frank,

Yes, she does have the induction airbox and elbow supersedure just like we did for you.

Re: SuperStream

Jim,
Does 31J have flap Gap seal installed?

Do you have pictures of the Modifications? I'd love to see it. Are the before and after pictures very different?

Re: SuperStream

Congratulations Jim.

Re: SuperStream

Hi Alex,

31J: '76 114 with no flap seals, no gap seals, no wing root fairings, no naca dorsal, no enclosed beacon, no chops, 7.00 tires, tired paint.

But she is now FAST!

Jim

Re: SuperStream

That sounds like my airplane! (Except for the end result)

Jim, please confirm the cost, now that you have otained the STC for the SuperStream.

Amazingly awesome !!!

Ok so what's the price tag for this mod?

Re: SuperStream

superjob jim

what will this do for a 114tc?

and what are the costs for that?

by the way.. what is the latest on the io580 ie2 ?

Re: SuperStream

Hi Mark,

The special pre-buy pricing was a loss leader for me to help offset some of the approximately $125,000 this STC has cost me. The standard pricing going forward will be $7,900 turn key for the full SuperStream clinic as enumerated on the list I have included here. This clinic is way more than an incidence change... it's probably the first expert specialist TLC that many of the airplanes have received since leaving Rockwell, or leaving Commander (except that many of the late CAC birds never got any TLC at the factory in the first place).

I am considering an "STC Celebration" pricing but I really need to know how many might be interested before I venture any proposal as to what that discount might be. I would
probably tie it in with a mailing to the entire registered owner base.
