Houston recommendations?

I am flying into Houston from Hammond, LA in a couple of weeks and park for 5 days. Complicated by a one-day commercial trip sandwhiched in to SLC and back out of IAH. Any recommendations on where to gas up and park? I was in IWS West Houston last week for just a half-day and it was fine. I would love to find a reasonable hangar or shaded space to park the bird for 5 nights. I found one for the week in Hammond for $25/night. Going to hit the plane with another coat of REJEX this weekend, but shade is better.

Depends, Houston is a big place. If you are flying out of IAH on the north side you might want to be at Hooks (DWH). If you are going out of Hobby towards the south side you might be able to get something close by at Ellington (EFD) though it won't be cheap. ('Tis a great place for plane watching with both military and NASA birds there.) Judi is there now and she might chime in. There are a couple of places on the West Side but depending on your location of business, they could be out of the way.

I always use EFD, not the cheapest but it is less than a mile from my Houston office.

You gonna be in Lousiana for a while? If so give me a call.

Yeah.. in Houston it really depends where you want/need to be. David Wayne Hooks is Nice, as is Sugarland, both on the west side. I haven't overnighted at either though.

My airplane is based at Hooks airport. It will heading for the Avionics shop in about a week or so. So, I may be able to get you into my hangar spot. Let me get hold of the Hangar owner and discuss this with him. Will let you know. I am currently in Nigeria and will be here till the end of August.

That would be wonderful if it works, Alex. I will arrive in Houston 2 weeks from tomorrow and depart the following thursday evening or Friday morning. Sunday I have to fly out of IAH to SLC then back Monday evening. Then Tues Wed Thurs at a client (David Weekley Homes) in the Gallaria area, then out again.

Ian ... I will be in Slidell Wednesday but that is quick in/quick out because I have to be in Dallas Wed. Night. But week after next, I am at Hammond Sunday through Thursday nights. I think the hotel is closer to Denham Springs.

Slidell is a nice little airport, cheapest fuel around.
Denham Springs is a bit to the north of us but if you are going to be around for a bit we should try to catch up. That is about the time my plane is supposed to be ready at the paint shop though so I may be off to Arkansas.
