Grass Grass Grass. Anyone who is at all apprehensive about landing on grass please give me a call. Before I landed at Grand Oaks for the first time I had no idea what to expect. Sure I got my ticket RAF White Waltham that is a Grass field, I well remember my first landing on hard runway, I was scared.
Before my first landing at Grand Oaks I visited several airports with grass strips, both in the Commander and by road. A actually drove down one at 65 mph so I could compare it with driving down my own runway.
The grass and Grand Oaks does not slow me down like I expected, I try not to use the brakes on grass but sometimes have to just a little. I keep the weight off the nose wheel as long as possible.
I would be glad to meet anyone in Dawson (16j) just 6 miles away and fly in with you.
Life is a barrel of fun.
