Re: Gear Checkvalve
Hi All,
Confirming the subject here is the "piloted" gear down checkvalve, located under the rear seat that maintains hydraulic pressure on the extended gear.
112's up thru 380:
Did not have hydraulic locking of the gear, and thus. no valve.
This valve may be added, in combination with a down pressure switch, or not.
112's 381+ and all 112B, 112TC, 112TCA:
Had 7116-1 valves, parts no longer available.
May be superseded with the 7116-2.
114, 114B, and 114TC:
Had 7116-2 valves (in theory). We find some have 7116-1.
We have a repair kit available for the 7116-2 valves, $125.
Some valve malfunctions can be resolved with ring service, but the primary checking function is via a "trapped" seal that is not field replaceable.
The witching hour seems to have arrived on these valves. Calls are increasing.
For those 112 s/n 1 thru 380 owners interested in superseding to add the hydraulic locking feature, I will structure two kits: check only, and check/pressure.
If I do the chassis and tubing work, the labor will only be a few hours in the field. Kit price would depend on size of the build run, probably not less than $750
and not more than $1500, discounted if you already bought the valve.
For those ordering valves now, Martine is collecting the funds from you as you subscribe.
Thanks,
Jim
