Gas Spring Door Stays

Re: Gas Spring Door Stays

I cannot think of a single other Commander mod that provides more bang for the buck than Carl's door pistons. If I were to buy another one, it's one of the very first things I would do.

Carl;

Which kits goes on the "B" model doors? I don't see that specifically listed.

I need to check them out too. One of my hinges is kinda funky, the other likely on the way.

Are they simple to put on? Seem so.

Hi Brad,

The 112B uses the early model kit. The 114B uses the late model kit

About 2 hours on the first door. 20 minutes on the 2nd door. Unless you know someone that's done it before - then it's just 20 minutes a side:-)

Re: Gas Spring Door Stays

These are the best thing since sliced bread IMO. Install is easy and like Carl said the second door is fast.

Hardest part for me was apparently the door hinge in the co-pilot side was replaced or removed and they used a different bolt with different threads and really made it fit and stripped the head. Tried PB Blaster and heat and nothing worked so I had to cut the head off and drill out the bolt. Since you have to drill and tap a larger hole anyways it only added time and frustration.

Re: Gas Spring Door Stays

Are these owner installed or will I need to have an A&P do it?

I installed mine and will have an IA sign off. I’m currently doing some modifications and will call the IA to come inspect and sign off when I’m done with them.

Haven't seen any posts for 9-10 months. Are the gas door stays still available? I have a 1977 112 TCA.

Can I still get these for my 112A?

Open Box Special!

I accidentally shipped to someone twice! I shipped a complete set of Early Model gas door springs, and a Baggage door spring kit to an owner by mistake. I got all of it back. Now it needs a new home. If anyone's interested - $100 off, and free shipping:-)

Carl... how much are these?

Great mod, really priced right.

It just so happens I'm in the market for a set of these - please contact me directly and we'll work out the details

Thanks,

Carl might Have a set, but I don't believe that the springs for the early 112's will fit your airplane
