Looking for any recommendations on places to stay along the coast in NC for a week in July (myself, wife, and 13 year old daughter). We prefer to eat out while on vacation, so not looking for a condo/house that is miles from any restaurants.

Looking into:
Nags Head
Ocracoke
Surf City
Wrightsville/Carolina Beach

Any regulars have any suggestions? We will visit/fly-in to Kitty Hawk at some point, but that could be a day trip from wherever....

Thanks Dave

Re: Coastal NC Recommendations

Hi David,

I picked up 114JA in New Bern NC near Cherry Point. It is a nice comfortable city on a bay. I based out of the Visiting Quarters on Cherry Point Air Station for the 3 days of the pre-buy, checkout and closing. I imagine your family will probably want to be more on the actual coast (understandable), just thought I'd give New Bern a thumbs up.

Let us know when you get close to an actual date of visiting (FFA) be cool to get a handful of AC11's on the 'small' ramp at the same time.

It is on my bucket list . .

Good luck,
John

Re: Coastal NC Recommendations

I worked as a contractor for Cherry Point near New Bern for about 6 years. If your a history Buff New Bern has some. The birth place of Pepsi Cola, also Hatteras Boats are there. There is a downtown area with nice shops and restaurants there.

Also there is KMRH near Beaufort, NC not far from New Bern. Go to the docks there is where all the multi million dollar yachts stop on there way south or north for fuel and supply's. You are just feet away while eating as several restaurants. The Shrimp and Grits are fantastic. When there I stayed in Atlantic Beach at one of the hotels and it was easy to get just about anywhere. They have a fort and just down the road you can charter a boat for deep sea fishing. in Beaufort there is a dive shop (if your a diver) and you can dive on one of the German U boats. There is also some Jet boat tours there and Horse Island.
