AOPA Webinar on Cuba

Re: AOPA Webinar on Cuba

Correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe a ships license also authorizes the use of a hand held radio either near the plane or far away.

I got the license for Sierra Bravo in 09 for the Alaska trip and at that time did a lot of research into it.

Life is a barrel of fun.

Re: AOPA Webinar on Cuba

Just picked up on this thread. Will be in Havana in a few days with my son and looking forward to it. The advice seems to be to take cash that isn't USD as there's an exchange penalty of 10% on top of the rate offered. Might be better to buy euros or pounds or something else. Worth checking out the up-to-date details before you go ! And your charge/credit cards may not work.

With planning on a stop or two inside Canada next month after Oshkosh, went ahead and applied for the 'aircraft' radio licenses. Now have no excuse for not venturing out to the Bahamas or 'Q'uba . . .
Mike used the FCC online application. ONCE you got into the app it was fairly painless.
