Advice on east coast trip

Re: Advice on east coast trip

Vince,

I tried sending you an e-mail about this weekend in NY, and it got bounced back. Send me your current e-mail address.

FS,

Email is vgiampa@ca.rr.com.

Just finished up a complete rerigging at the Mother Ship and plan on leaving CGI first thing in the morning for NJ. Will probably be there a day or two, depending on how my 96 year old great uncle is doing. KFOK after that.

Re: Advice on east coast trip

I'll wave at you on the way by Vince. Due in to CGI appx 0900 local. Sorry we won't be able to get into some mischief this time around.

Re: Advice on east coast trip

I am down in the VA mtns workingon a volunteer project and I seem to have contracted something nasty ... which could be food poisoning or could be connected to an apparent spider bite. I feel like crap, to put it mildly. Not like me at all. Anyway ... I am putting my trip on "standby" until I see how this resolves.

Bill,

You'll no doubt enjoy the superb hospitality provided by Carl. And Dave and Jeremy were absolutely patient in dealing with the rigging job from hell. I'm sure your experience will be as pleasant as mine.

Re: Advice on east coast trip

Carl, Dave, John, Mike were all most hospitable. Got me in and out in a jiffy. Even though I enjoy doing my own work (most times), all my experiences using the facory for maintenance have been high quality. Good group.

Re: Advice on east coast trip

Vince, I think I met you briefly or waived at you when I was hangared at Brackett. Anyway, we just returned a few days ago from the coast-to-coast trip. I can give you advice on stops if you wish. And, where fuel was more than $5/gal. and less than $3/gal. I have all the charts if you need them. Although, we hardly ever used them as the 530/430 work well. I can give you tips on where the nicer hotels are for your overnight stays along the way. We got lucky on our entire trip with weather and "0" turbulence. Hope you are as lucky. We took the El Paso route, then up towards MO / OH and NY. Sky Acres was way cool where we parked while we jumped on the big plane to Ireland. This was Bills suggestion and a good one. A lovely airport.

Let me know, and I don't mind swinging over to Brackett and dropping off charts, etc. My cell 951.640.0455.

Susie,

I think we actually met a Sedona in 2005. Anyway, I'm currently in NJ and on my way to Long Island, Cape Code and Danbury, CT in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for your generous offer, but I obviously already have all the charts and approach plates. I've made this trip a few times before. Too bad you weren't still on the East Coast. I'm trying to hook up with Frank tomorrow.

ATTENTION: FRANK!

I'm getting in to FOK around noon or 1pm on the 11th. Don't even think about returning an email cuz I won't be able to get......long story. Some parts of NJ are still in the dark ages . The only way to get in touch with me is at 714 329-1200. Call if you or any of the others can hook up.

Re: Advice on east coast trip

AS athe world turns ... going to drop off my son in the Allentown area tomorrow and them head over to Harrisburg/Carlisle then home the next day. Had a really rough week -- food poisoning. Yuuuuuuuuk. Wasn't working out well to see many due to the AK trip and other conflicts. Next time.

Re: Advice on east coast trip

Susie I posted you cell phone all over the net on some pretty bad sites let me know if you get any calls

Re: Advice on east coast trip

Mark Chopko and I are flying over to Latrobe for their brunch at 10:30 AM Sunday if anyone can make it.

Competition drives.
call her direct, They let no customers go away.

Stop in at FOK SheltAir, Ask for Laura and the red carpet.
I'll pass this to her.

Sven,

Just a quick follow-up with my experience at SheltAir at FOK. While I never had the opportunity to meet Laura personally, it was obvious she alerted her crew to my arrival. They rolled out the red carpet; courteous and friendly and went out of there way. Laura had arranged the "Sven" special for parking and fuel prices. She beat the competition in both categories, hands down :).

Thanx for the referral.

Scott,

Why is your son in Allentown?? That airport is only about 20 minutes from mine. If you head back this way let me know...

Are you back at home Dave?

Re: Advice on east coast trip

Dave ... Conor's new girlfriend is from Lehighton.

Nope - soon though

I have what looks like 2 to 3 weeks left to go.

From what I have heard the CFI portion is the hardest part of the course. One guy I know had an 11 hour oral for his initial CFI. Not sure I can even talk for eleven hours, yet alone talk intelligently

The one from the picture??? I'd go visit too...

Dave,

I did my CFI, CFI-I, and MEI when I was out of work in 2002, it took 4 weeks full time for the 3 ratings.

The FAA required 1st crack at all 1st time CFI applicants, no DPE's allowed.
The oral/practical was an all day event (8+ hours).
While I did not have any problems, I hear it's about a 50% 1st-time pass rate.

Good luck!

Nah ... they broke up last winter after SEVEN years. Family tradition, i guess. I met my wife when i was engaged to a girl I had dated for ....uhhhh .... SEVEN years. (Wife knew nothing about that or wouldn't have given me the time of day. I conveniently took a couple of months before I brought it up. The fiance was off far away at grad school.)

Anyway .... the new one is fantastic, too. Good PA girl, you know? We loved the former, but truth is the new one is a better "fit" and we have a feeling this one will be permanent. You just never know, though, and you don't probe too much into your kids personal lives if you are smart.
