No, no hurry. I actually won’t be home until the middle of April.
Dean - I have a friend based there and come down often. Give me a call if you want to meet up. Jesse Taylor (970) 222-6759. N4533W KGXY
Hey y'all! Blake and I are new in general aviation and could not be more thankful that the first plane we decided to buy is a Commander! Looking forward to learning more about these birds and treating our plane well!
Hey Ken I see these older posts from 2008 about the HYC5006 but can you give anymore insight about just replacing the motor and not the entire power pack and where we can get the motor and how to go about replacing it? I had gear that wouldn't go down and ran the pump for at least 45 minutes while troubleshooting and am sure I burned out the motor. We get 12V on both the up and down cycle of the gear level so pretty sure it's the motor :). Any help would be appreciated as they want $4k for a new power pack!
I noticed in my recent response to your post that voice recognition changed the word scroll to grow which gave the response a whole different meaning. I corrected it - my apologies.
Chris said I was correct but your ship may be different..you will need to find a "quiet place" electronically for it to live.
Thank you so much David, I will try a magnetic survey at this place, but there is two servos I hope they will not disturb GMU since GARMIN recommend to place it 10 feet away.
Thanks again
If you have time can you give me a call about the 112a? I have 112a with io-360 now. Thinking about 390 conversion. 409-682-0246. Ronnie Moore
Hi,

I see you own a 1973 112 with serial# 102. I am in the process of purchasing serial# 105. It has the hot shot turbo on it. I'm curious how you like your early model 112? I'm not concerned about the low useful load as I will mostly be flying by myself on maybe one other person with little to no luggage but I'm curious about how you like yours. Any insight you can give a potential 112 owner would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
John Barden

Hey John, I owned my airplane since 2019 and I must say It's the best out there. I am going to list it for sale soon (my wife is pregnant) so I need to let it go, but it will break my heart!!!

It's super economical to fly. I went from MO to NJ with a single stop. The IO-360 is very reliable and I burn about 8-9 gallons an hour. I fly around 7500-9500 depending on the winds.

Yes, it's slower, and much less useful load, but I don't mind the extra 5-6 minutes travel time.

I fly full tanks with 3 people in the winter plus about 25 lbs worth of stuff in the back. 3 people and half thanks in the summer.

Just watch out for DA and hot days... It's VERY slow climb, but once you get used it and know the capabilities of the airplane, just don't put yourself in the situation where you have to push the airplane...

112 are amazing airplanes!!! you will be very happy!
Glad to hear about Plane Care. Easy airport, good folks. I was happy with them every time I went there. Good luck!
Hi Guys,
Cian here from Seefin Aviation, we are an aircraft brokerage based in Ireland

I’m reaching out to offer a fantastic opportunity for you to acquire an off-market 1974 Rockwell Commander 112A, ideal for IFR and advanced training.
Key Highlights:

Avionics: Upgraded Garmin GI-275 instruments, GNX-375 (GPS/XPDR), and autopilot with altitude hold.
Engine: Overhauled in June 2024 (15 hours since overhaul).
Performance: True airspeed of 125-130 knots, 6.5 hours autonomy.
Maintenance: Maintained under CAMO with complete logs and all ADs done.
This well-maintained aircraft is reliable, cost-effective, and perfect for student training. It’s currently hangared in Spain and can be ferried anywhere in the EU.
I’d be happy to share additional details or arrange an inspection. Please let me know if this would be of interest to your team.

Kind Regards

Cian O'Shea

I would be more than happy to meet with you. We were just actually in Prescott last week although without the plane. We have some friends that live up there. I'll make the same offer to you. I am based at Glendale and if you're going to be down this way give me a call.
My cell number is 602-818-6469. Just be aware that after the end of the month I will be gone for an extended period of time.
I am trying to find a mechanic that really knows Commanders

I have two recommendations: Anthony Arispe in McKinney at Aero Country, T31 (Airspeed and Attitude, 972-375-5284) or Adam Clark in Henderson at Rusk County, KRFI (Circle C Aviation, 903-987-1878). Both will treat you right and do a good job.

Thank you very much. Have you ever tried Charles at KTKI?

No, I don't think I know Charles. I had some avionics work done at TKI with Select Avionics, who I highly recommend. I don't think they do general A&P work, though. Might be worth asking, because I had a very good experience with them and there was another Commander in their hangar at the same time.
