Re: Wing Root Fairings

The story goes this way...

Sven was [of course] in Big Piney in person to work with Robin on the installation. When it came time for the nose gear doors to be -- ahem -- modified for the light a brief conversation ensued. It was mostly expletives in Long Island and Wyoming accents. In the end they both agreed that it would be best not to install the nose gear light. As you know, neither of them were ever opinionated individuals. ;)

Sven would be extremely pleased to hear the gear door modification process has been improved.

On a related note, I really miss the random calls Sven would make out of the blue to talk politics or avionics. He was taken from us way too soon.

Regards,
Neal

My nose gear doors are one of the crappiest parts of my plane. They've been monkeyed with so much there isn't much left of them (I'm sure Sven would have a few expletives to describe them).

Part of the cowl project is new gear doors - hurray!

Re: Wing Root Fairings

Forgot to post this earlier.

Here's a picture of the lower main wing fairing. I'm really happy with how these came out. The rubber never seemed to fit right in this area on my plane.

And Carl was kind enough to forward us a copy which we've posted in the Service Data section of the main website. Link

Great product!

Hi Fred,

Yes, getting ready to do another run of them. Just waiting for a few more interested parties. I need to do them in sets of 4 or 5 to make it cost effective.

Yours look awesome by the way!

Carl,

Mine came on the plane when I acquired it. However there are a row of countersunk screws/washers about every 10"s or so that secure mine.
Very satisfied with the streamlined look.

Hi John,
I do recommend screws on the bottom of the main wing, and a few other locations to ensure they are secure, but for the most they are just glued into place like on the Cirrus. They fit very snugly, so aren't going anywhere.

Re: Hey, who chopped off the back of my airplane!?

Carl, I would be a buyer for some tail farings and possibly the wings.

Re: Wing Root Fairings

I'm trying to put together enough people to justify doing another run of these. If interested, please PM me or email me directly so I can put you on the list.

Thanks,
