Hi All,

I try to keep a three-blade on-hand for 114 and 114A conversion, but don't like to have it sit here more than a few months before continuing on to its new installation. It is time to sell the one I've had on hand the last few months, and I am ready to offer a special deal.

As a reminder, this is the Hartzell Scimitar 78" Top Prop (same used with the 580) and is STC'd for any 114 or 114A. This one will make the 10th installation of this STC and all reports have been good.

Anyone interested?

Jim

Interested? Depends on the deal!

For 114's with 2 blades, this upgrade is awesome. You will see the difference in performance. My A&P was amazed at the difference in performance when he did the swap. I am really with mine.

Hi Jim; what is the weight increase? any?

Hi Jim
I am also interested.
You may recall I was interested over a year ago but due to an elevator repair problem I declined at that time. Please advise the price and if it is still available
with thanks

Judi

It would be nice to have all of the propeller weight info in the hanger section of the web board. I know some of our more robust brethren have had difficulty with adding weight to the front of their airplanes. Having that info published might help people to make the right decision about their propeller.

The two blade Hartzell that I took off of my 112 was 65lbs.
What is the weight of the 3 blade for the 112?
What is the weight of the 2 blade Hartzell for the 114?
What is the weight of the 3 blade McCauley for the 114?
What is the weight of the 3 blade Hartzell for the 114?
What is the weight of the 3 blade MT for the 114?

I'll try to dig some of this up myself, but any help would be appreciated.

Re: Three-Blade Prop Deal

Hi Judi,

Per below numbers, the weight increase from the OEM 2-blade Hartzell to the Aerodyme STC 3-blade Hartzell is 22 lbs. From the Mc C405, it's only 2 lbs. Also, the STC allows for governor change to new Hartzell S-1-55 (additional cost) to replace Edo-Aire's ready for retirement.

Re: Three-Blade Prop Deal

First, on my plane the setup does work (barely). The weight caught us off guard but more so the moment that we were placing the weight on an already forward CG challenged setup.

This is another reason I wish we could update the base 114’s W/bal charts to more align with the ‘B’. (I am running a ’B’ eng and STC’d prop but using the 114 charts?)

I bought one last year at the special price. I am very happy with it.

Perfect, that is what I thought. The 114 prop is a little lighter because it doesn't have the extension.
