Re: South Central Fly-in

I have a trade show to attend tomorrow at the Austin Hilton Airport and it will consume the better part of a day.

I'm ready for a fly in somewhere !

Ah Jay ... man, I should have got ahold of you. Just saw this. Was looking over at Diamond Head flying over Stennis about 5:00. But I had originally planned to go right from Hammond up to Gaston's Friday, then this Gulfport thing came up. 2 things, actually. Dinner tonight and a breakfast tomorrow. Wow ... Redfish by the hangar. What could be better than that?

Re: South Central Fly-in

Scott.... Pineville is a "breakfast only" deal... put on by the local EAA chapter so by lunch it will be over. How about meeting up in Hot Springs? It's more or less on the way, they always seem to have cars available, and there are some good places to eat.

If you're "in" let me know apx. ETA (looks to be about 2.5 hours from gulfport with today's 20kt headwind)

Anyone else in the area want to go to Hot Springs Saturday?

Byrne, I can make Hot Springs by noon. Let me know if you are going. Email me at scott@truen.com in the morning by 9:00 AM and include where to meet and your cell number. My cell is 248.390.0773.

Re: South Central Fly-in

I know it's late, but I have the morning free. Would love to hook up with you Byrne, Scott, Jay and whomever else is around.

Arkansas is a bit of a hike though.

Will wait to see if anyone has a meet up suggestion in the morning.

Do want to go to Gastons some day. Just not this weekend.:(

Re: South Central Fly-in

Hey Scott...

All set. I sent an e-mail. See you around noon.

Anyone else feel like Hot Springs for lunch.... Come on Down.

Ian,

Don't know if you'll see this in time but I am going down to Pineville (2L0) I plan on leaving Carthage at 7:30 which will put me into Pineville about 8:30 am.

That should just be a short hop from Baton Rouge. Hope to see ya there.

Re: South Central Fly-in

I enjoyed finally meeting Scott in Hot Springs. There was apparently a bonanza fly-in going on so our two Commanders easily cast a shadow of beauty, function and style over the row's and row's of ubiquitous v-tails and a36's on the ramp. It's fortunate that the bonanza drivers were off playing golf or visiting antique clothing stores comparing swatches with each other so they didn't have to endure the pain and secret desire they have to actually have and own a good looking plane.

Scott found a Jewel of a place to eat.... (it's like he knows how to sniff out the hidden gems of the restaurant world). A little dive called McCard's just down the street from the airport, has some of the best gut buster food I've ever had. Both Scott and I had the "Tamale Stacker" which probably knocked a year or so off both our lives but it was worth it at the time.

Re: South Central Fly-in

Got a question for the tech savvy here.... How do I upload photos into the slideshow format the most post's use instead of the entire full size pics in the post like above?

Re: South Central Fly-in

Byrne - when you use the 'Manage Attachments' tool from the Advanced composition view, the slide show is the default format.

Not that the attachment function is sometimes quirky. Occasionally you have to upload a photo a couple of times before it sticks.

Re: South Central Fly-in

What do you know... Thanks Glen. I've never even clicked on the "post reply" link.... always just the "quick post" at the bottom of the thread...

Thanks

Re: South Central Fly-in

Now that's what i call lunch!

Re: South Central Fly-in

I just always ask of a local "What is the best place you can send me that I'd never know was here if it wasn't for you?" Never fails.

That "thing" was unbelievable ... From top down:
Massive pile of cheese
Onions
Beens
Massive layer of BBQ Beef
Chili
Tamales (at least 3)
Fritos (I kid you not.)

If Bunn ate one of those, the Saudi's would be trying to lock him up as a future reserve. I think it was 6 bucks! OMG ... neither of us could come close to finishing it. Had to take on less fuel.

Re: South Central Fly-in

:):) Now that lunch had to put you over weight.
