Oshkosh 2016

Re: Oshkosh 2016

Any other commanders still at FDL? I would enjoy a chat. I'm parked north of the fbo close to the freeway.

Yes we are still there N295TC & N114JA. We are parked down on the grove road st back gate entrance to the back hangars. We are not camping but will be there about 7:00 tonight for a few minutes. ..we'll try to swing by your airplane and say hello

Re: Oshkosh 2016

I'll be taking the 6:30 bus back from Oshkosh so that should work!

Re: Oshkosh 2016

The first 6:30 bus was full-should be another in just a few minutes I'm told. You don't need to wait around, but I would love to meet more COG members.

This works out great because we've stopped to eat some Mexican so we'll come towards your airplane in about an hour. Todd

Had to laugh at that. Reread your verbage, sounds like "The Good, the Bad & the Ugly Clint Eastwood series'. Was he tasty? Given current political climate----
See WHT 110 deg for a few days does. Sid keeps teasing me about 69& 72 degrees in Oshkosh.

Tonite had Torrential Hurricane like downpours with repated severe lightning strikes, storm like ripped up my canopy at OSH in 94 and dent scratched my left wing. Hope it was not so severe for you all. Hope tomorrow cooler so zip can work in hanger on fixed Upper door lock reinstall.
Best regards to all at Oshkosh.

Gang

We're at FLD as well. Winds at KOSH were 21 gusting 31. So we diverted to FLD.
We're staying at the university. 416-578-7445.

Re: Oshkosh 2016

Hey all, been here @ OSH since Sunday. Got in about 1:30 pm. What a cluster at Ripon. We are in row 526 and need volunteers to come drink all this beer we got and can't take back Saturday afternoon!! If you want text me @ 443-618-4020. Scott I heard rumors you weren't making it this year? What gives. I stay all week and you're not coming? Have seen 3 other Commanders here so far. One departed mid week one departed this morning and there is one plus me still here. Show has been good and attendance high. Come by this evening. Bring a chair and have a beverage.

A little health issue is preventing me from coming. Should have it fixed pretty soon though. I really feel badly now that I know beth will be there until Sunday! Hug and kiss to her from both Conor and I.

Re: Oshkosh 2016

Hemmoroids is not enough reason to miss OSH. LOL😀 Hope you are well soon!!

Re: Oshkosh 2016

Hi Jim/Beth! Doesn't seem right flying into FME and 112 not around. Z CURTIS was talking about you when he sees N112HT. Hope you don't get any toxic reactions to the Roundup on the field. See you in Georgia! Enjoy!!! Been hibernating in the A/C. Probably going North after annual completed mid August.

Re: Oshkosh 2016

Had a wonderful trip to Oskhkosh. Saw lots of cool airplanes, products and people. Unfortunately we had to cut our trip short and come home early. The forecast on Saturday for flight home on Sunday was not looking promising.

Re: Oshkosh 2016

Retired military pilot, think he was a Colonel, has hanger next to mine. Flys a Grumman Tiger WITH ALL THE UPGRADE Garmin MFDs /ADS-B gadgets. I was working on the repaired door latch reinstall yesterday when he taxied down. the lane. Just back from Oshkosh Was about 1PM. Said it was comfy at OSH & across Lake M /at altitude but also didn't like the muggy heat upon descent & in our arsa. Got to 92 yesterday. Better than 100 but still humid sweaty muggy. Had to work in 15 min spurts between A/C cooldowns. Yup Oshkosh weather more humane than Virginia. Told me he once lost the similar latch on a Piper and the door blasted open. Used a seat belt to secure from slipstream & landed.Said they had to slow way down and land. Our Commanders have the secure main latch.

Well Oshkosh16 over, you participants now have to rejoin the rest of us sweltering it out.

Sherman,
Can definitely relate, Got back to L A yesterday afternoon and decided to change oil and filter after securing our Osh baggage. Not 5 min's into the change I was soaking wet . . . . yuck!!

Re: Oshkosh 2016

John-Absolutely posted to your starter issue, but apparently it got lost in cyberspace. Essentially -had starter glitch in NC helping Sid get his plane. We were about to go to RDU for new starter, but local A&P found me an almost new lightweight at Aviation shop 20 mi away. And no problems since center with mine. But will swap it, then examine my heavyweight.

Other part of post was your 114JA wanted ' a real Oshkosh deal', and made sure you got it, even if you had to return by car. Now you have a 'Full Oshkosh Experience ' memory.

This year, more than last few, having a really hard time dealing with the heat. Must be 'The Getting Younger'. Just hate sweating, really Hate it. just don't feel 'Persknal Dignity' in those conditions.

Also, my lifelong 'favorite cars'/brands - just haven't mattered past few months; MOST important and most appealing factor is 'Ice Cold A/C'. Last Monday was 110 and had to go into Fredericksburg to get my N112HT custom embroidery order, finally finished after two months of 'image & design refinement'. Normally would take one of 'The Classics', but at 110 - Think Brooklyn 'FurGedABouDit'--- Took the Pontiac Solstice. ice Kold Comfy by the time I get the 600 ft to the Tree Farm Gate.

Today working in Skyworld hanger, HOT, but not sweaty, and kept driving back to my hanger for misc supplies & paints - in the Solstice. Why I like 2 seaters - warm up quick in winter, Get Cool/Cold fast in Summer. My 2 Dr RAM (03) is good (just tweeked Freon) and PT Dream Cruiser Convert also have Ice Kold A/C, but the Solstice is 'Quickest to have to 'Turn down the Cool'. Back to the Annual tomorrow -Crawl in the tail tomorrow to lube. Won't that be fun!!!
