Greetings members,
I am thrilled to be part of your group.. I am currently completing the purchase of a 112, C-FCEO. Hopefully, my questions will be met with understanding and some humor.
I look forward to much needed advice and council. My biggest issue is figuring how to get some more HP out of the engine. Here in CYBW, we have very high density altitudes especially in the summer and much cumulus-granite to the west. And, yes a 114 might have been the answer but couldn't pass up the 112.
Cheers, Steve

Welcome to the group and Commander ownership. The best way to get more power out of it is a turbo normalizer - you could contact Carl Lee - /RCM Normalizing. I think he has one available.

Hi Steven. Welcome and congrats! I am just west of you at CYKA. I tested out a 112 near Vancouver when I was first looking - I can understand your need for some more power flying out of YBW! The Hot Shot would be perfect for you.

Welcome Steve!

Steven,

Welcome to the group, and congrats on the plane purchase.

Steve Welcome to the Commander family!!! best place to find all the information you need on these airplanes. :)

Welcome Steve to the Canadian Contingent (of COG). As you have probably come to realize there's only 2 options for more horsepower: RCM Turbo normalizing; or upgrade to a 112TC or 114TC. Outside of that, you could move to less scenic Ontario (grin). Enjoy your new Commander and don't hesitate to reach out to the group for help.

Welcome to the group Steve. CEO is a nice aircraft. I have known the previous owner for many years.

Don

Welcome Steve. This is an incredible group and you came to the right place ! We fly our 112 out of Kitchener and would not want any less power than we have even in the flatlands we fly over. If you have questions, we have answers ! PS : others have pointed you in the right direction. Karl had a hotshot kit available only a few months ago and it was the last of the last so if it is gone, you are in a hard spot.

Isn't the IO-390 still an Option? On Paper a small increase in Power, but in real life, a noticeable improvement .

Part of the puzzle is how much time is remaining until TBO Steve's Commander. If it's a high time engine, the IO-390 is a perfect alternative to overhauling his IO-360. Of course, budget and cash always comes into play when considering upgrades.

Thanks Phil and everyone who took time to respond. It is greatly appreciated. I do feel I have found a home amongst this group. The bird has 300 SMOH on the engine.. That said, I was thinking about an engine swap to my RV6 and the IO-360 would make a huge difference in C-FDOG. Allen, I was wondering if your suggestion was an option. So thank you for your comment.
Phil, no plans to move back east and Tony, I will be parking CEO next to DOG in the hangar @ CYKF after I pick her up mid December staying until after Xmas. Perhaps a coffee and lunch might be a plan?
Keep the advice coming guys...
Steve.

Steve,

I really like the registrations of your aircrafts. Coffee and lunch would be great in December ...
