While enjoying the balmy December (Christmas day here project mid-50's) anyone up for a Fly-In at Jackson KJXn either Saturday or Sunday, January 3 or 4?

Re: Great Lakes Fly-In Jan 3 or 4?

Either works for me.

Re: Great Lakes Fly-In Jan 3 or 4?

Hey Scott - have a happy Christmas, and same to all at Commander Org.

Re: Great Lakes Fly-In Jan 3 or 4?

Scott,

Sounds good. I can do lunch either day. Saturday I could be there a little earlier, could be wheels up in MKG by 9:30.

Re: Great Lakes Fly-In Jan 3 or 4?

If you can get me an engine and prop in time we will go, otherwise we will pass on this one. Hope to see you in the spring. Merry Christmas.

I'm game if freezing wx is cooperative. 4th is better for me but either should work.

Re: Great Lakes Fly-In Jan 3 or 4?

Been out of commission awhile. For Christmas I got a nasty eye infection, both eyes that they think began viral and then got a secondary bacterial. Very painful, spent a couple of days in the dark, but definitely on the mend now. Had to hit the eyes every hour with one of 4 different drops/gels for 48 hours straight. My ex-nurse wife kept did the honors so I did not have to sort it all out. Anyway, follow-up with Doc this AM and she said I should be fine to fly by the weekend. Sounds like Sunday may be better, but sounds like most are flexible. Let's wait till Thursday or so and see what WX looks like in the forecast and then we will make a call.

p.s. most everyone realizes and has been annoyed by the fact that commercials on TV are much louder than the shows. Did you also know they are brighter, as in more lumens? I never did ... until this eye infection thing. I would be watching a movie and all was fine, then a commercial would come on and I had to avert my eyes -- too damn bright. Virtually every commercial, every time. Makes sense I guess ... another way to perk you up and get your attention so you will notice what is happening in the commercial, but never realized that part of it till now.

Re: Great Lakes Fly-In Jan 3 or 4?

It's a long way off, but right now Saturday is looking better than Sunday, which is forecast to be heavy snow & ice. Much could change by the weekend, however.

Re: Great Lakes Fly-In Jan 3 or 4?

We are officially No-Go for Saturday. Freezing rain from about 6 AM on through the afternoon in JXN. Maybe by some miracle Sunday will look better.

Boo hiss...

Re: Great Lakes Fly-In Jan 3 or 4?

We missed it by one day. Ran out to the field Friday late afternoon just to heat the bird up, do pattern work, goof off. Just before the ice came later. Today a total bust as well, as will be all week. "possible" this next weekend. Let's see what it looks like mid week.
