Hi All,
Sorry, I seldom have time to get to the forum anymore. None of our Commanders are getting any younger and we are very busy 6 x 12 trying to keep up with your requests.
As some of you are aware, Aerodyme is the exclusive rep for sales and service of Gar-Kenyon gear actuators for 112 s/n 381 and subs, and all 112B/TC/TCA and 114/A/B/TC.
That leaves all of you flying 112's s/n 1 thru 380 without any decent option for servicing / replacing your gear actuators. Salvage components for these actuators don't play well together and are often in worse condition than what you are trying to fix. And... the penalty for continuing service of worn out, damaged, or problematic actuators is an expensive encounter with the runway.
So... we are biting the bullet for you. As of mid June, we expect to offer full service and replacement parts for these actuators. This investment by Aerodyme has already topped $20,000 and will culminate at no less than $30,000 to complete all the engineering, test, parts fab, etc. The original Gerdes design left much to be desired and the engineering of a proper service capability has not been trivial. The new methods and parts are testing well. Our new lock sets have already passed 4,000 lock/unlock cycles without any appreciable wear.
In the past, many of you have declined to join Aerodyme's initiatives up front, and been out of luck or substantially delayed later waiting for us to do re-runs... think: shimmy dampers, yoke bushings, etc. This time, I encourage all owners of s/n 1 thru 380 to join in to support this Aerodyme initiative.
Jim
