OK, we dropped the baton a bit on this one but it is still not too late to get a trip organised.

From the last thread the consensus seemed to be that organising something at this shorter notice outside of Europe may be difficult. Therefore can we vote on a final destination and fill in the stops once we know where we are ultimately going. We also need to firm up on aircraft and crews. Please post on this thread if you want to come along. Along with your preferred dates and any blackout dates you have.

We should have a planning meeting before hand at a central (to those going) airfield.

Re: European flyout

Just bringing it back up the forum.

Re: European flyout

Short of Barcelona via Montpellier and Cannes, we could do with a tie-breaker or at least a few more votes.

Re: European flyout

I voted for Biarritz cos it sounds nice and I havent been there Montpellier would qualify for exactly the same reasons. Barcelona went 3 times last year so its a bit "seen it done it" for me. Cannes never really fancied that part of France bit too frantic and touristy?

Lawrence how did you like your trip earlier, Sabadell work out ok?

I'm off on a 7 country tour in a weeks time, Holland, Germany,Poland, Denmark, Sweden,Czech, Austria.

After that I'm fully occupied til beginning of August any from then would suit me.

Re: European flyout

All

Thanks for your votes, the poll is open for another week hopefully we will get a few more.

I hope we can accommodate as many of these locations as possible on a tour, without making it an endurance exercise rather than a holiday. Perhaps you could post your referred dates.

For my part, I'm going in for another respray on the 27th July for 3.5 weeks. I'll put up a separate post on this subject and have a Club Flyout for a week in mid September which includes Biarritz.

Dave,

Didn't go in the end, the respray issue has caused some problems for me this year, the aircraft is flying alright now but when we planned to go I was still having some issues. I will get down that way this year at some point either with the Commander owners or with the flying club.

Your trip sounds like a lot of fun, is it a club thing or a holiday/business trip?

Re: European flyout

i was in Cannes last week, enjoyed the atmoshere and fancy flying trip there

Re: European flyout

Ian

Can you gie us some information on who/where you are and what you fly on your signature strip.

David T.

We all know that we never fly a Commander over the official gross weight.

I am trying to get a feel for how she handles over gross weight.

Thinking about the Sedona trip I do believe that we were a tad over gross weight when we fueled up at St.Johns AZ after leaving Sedona.

I think that I would have weighed 185 lbs butt naked, with clothes and jacket 195. We had full fuel (68gal) Two cylinders of oxygen (20lbs) both our suitcases, my laptop, your body weight, etc, etc.

Do you have an idea of what you weighed at the time and a guess of what your suitcase weighed.

Looking back, my guess is that we were 100 to 150lbs over gross weight. Never considered it at the time as there were only two of us.

You flew N377SB out of St.Johns and I remember the climb being less than we would have liked.

Working on the Alaska trip. Any info would be appreciated.

You haven't missed anything, you came at exactly the right time. We are working on destinations at the moment, timings next. Post here any dates you would prefer or are not able to go and vote in the location poll.

Re: European flyout

Hi all,

Are the dates fixed?
Please let me know where and when, and I will try to join with our C114B N6106S
Best Regards

Re: European flyout

I voted for Montpellier but we are just as happy with Cannes.
July is out for me, as we are off to Ostend and La Rochelle then.
Possibly the end of August might be good (sorry for being so vague) at least it might start the discussion going.

Cannes, Montpellier, Ostend and La Rochelle.... Life is tough... Can I stow away in your luggage compartment? I definitely weigh less than 200 lbs...

Re: European flyout

Richard,
If you and your wife want a break on the French Riviera with us then you are welcome to come along, we will have two spare seats.

Re: European flyout

OK Everybody, the poll is closed now on destination. Thanks to all who voted, it looks like Cannes is the winner however, we can plan a route through most of the other suggested destinations en route, they are not that far apart.

I'll post a route over the weekend and see if we can get a consensus on dates next week. Time is marching on and we need to get this organised soon before the summer disappears.

For me, very end of August is good as I am in for another respray from July 27th for 3.5 weeks and on our club flyout, La Rochelle, Biarritz, Perpignan, somewhere in the middle of France, Jersey and back from the 12th Sep, thinking of adding a second week, perhaps we could go for then, that would be around Sep 19th.

Re: European flyout

End of August is good for me.

Lawrence, FRED @ Colton has taken over the spray buisness, he will do a good job.
