I took a little trip down to Mustang Beach yesterday, and was pleasantly surprised to see another Commander parked on the ramp. Doesn't look like he's a member but a good looking 114. Please note Mark B. (since you probably spent the weekend melting ice up there in Michigan) the temp was a balmy 76, and no matter how hard I try, I cannot find a cloud in this photo

Re: Commanders on the beach

Ah hell ... Mark just needs a new hangar deal. No ice on my ramp. 44 degrees yesterday, blue sky all weekend, felt like spring ot us! No ice on my ramp. Of course, I am 18 miles south of Mark.

Re: Commanders on the beach

Thanks for rubbing it in Byrne. I was really hoping to get my plane out on Sunday. My hanger faces west and the sun heats up the snow on the hanger roof and then the melt runs off and creates about a 5 foot strip of ice right in front of the hanger door that was about 2 inches thick. Next weekend!

Find a better hangar. One that faces south, for example. :)

Now you've got me thinking about our Michigan brethren, and wondering how Angelo's man cave is holding up in this weather. I bet he has in-ground heaters for the ramp in front of the hangar door, so no ice worries for him.

Re: Commanders on the beach

Mine faces east, so I have the same problem! Speaking of which, is their anything other than good ole manual labor and a heady duty ice scraper/pole you guys recommend to melt this kind of ice without getting into stuff that will oxidize our aircraft metals?

Re: Commanders on the beach

Mine faces north east, but I have no ice, I have people taking care of the snow and ice, as Greg likes to say.

Re: Commanders on the beach

Power Blanket solves the ice dam problem in front of your hangar door.

Re: Commanders on the beach

Big problem here in AZ, damn big.....

Re: Commanders on the beach

It's good to be Pete!

Re: Commanders on the beach

Drove by Angelo's Man Cave yesterday. Two really good looking girls posted there to keep the ice clear and the condo tidy. It is even better to be Angelo.

p.s He is taking his bird to Jim for SuperStream. Gotta keep up with the Joneses ...errrrrr ... I mean ... the Steversons.
