COG Server and Forums/Website - 6/28

All - our server was damaged Sunday by what appears to be electrical activity from a thunderstorm. The UPS and one server power supply were destroyed and some data corrupted. There was also some additional damage that was discovered while trying to restore the systems. So the Board has decided to replace everything and brand new equipment is on the way.

To get the sites back up in the meantime, we've moved the COG virtual servers to a Private Cloud. There shouldn't be any noticeable performance or functionality differences but if anything comes up, drop me a note at gmores at microdata.com

As a “pre-announcement”,…

For some time, we have needed to take action regarding the now well-aged servers that support the operation of our forums and technical info. There is good news on the horizon. For the past few months, one of our members has been working to migrate our bulletin board over to a new (and more user friendly and capable) software operating system. This includes moving the forums to new servers. The project is nearly complete and we are looking for a mid-June rollout. There will be a “new look” and access to our technical database will be less complicated and more easily searched.

Your existing login credentials will continue to be used with the new software. Your existing hotlinks to our forums should continue to work. Simulations are being run to limit potential bugs at transition; but we will also ask for some patience in the event a temporary problem arises. We will post more info here as it becomes available. Look for our new and different forum appearance arriving around June 15th.
