A Great Time in Dayton

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Glen

I heard Jim Richards had a good video on the landing gear system and troubleshooting and wondering if it could be posted too?

We hired a video pro for the entire day so we have the workshops, the banquet, and some ramp/air footage. We'll be posting everything - once edited.

We'll make an announcement when it's all live.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Thanks for sharing Tim. I am originally from the Northwest and found out about how devastating Tornado's are first hand April 26th 1991. I guess you just get acclimated to the risk. I flew my son into a grass strip at Greensburg Kansas a year after that Tornado and it looked like a war zone. Only thing in operation was one convenience store. Seeing them on the news does not really portray the demolition.

Hard to put into words how Wayne ended up being such a great stop for us.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Mike Williams was helping on the flight line at Commander Aero and he is a professional photographer. He sent me 109 very nice photos from the Fly In. I think he has a picture of every plane in attendance. I have posted them in the Dayton Gallery. His company name is Williams Aviation. Enjoy

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

great that he took individual pics of ea., but he cut off the prop on almost every one of them. A professional photographer shouldn't do that.

Judi,
There might be a setting that is different between computers. All the pictures on my computer look very good when I open them.
Please let me know. I have a disk and could send you a copy.
Mike said we can use them any way we want without additional permission.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

I must be missing something. Looking all over I can't find a Dayton gallery.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Hey Brian,

Thanks for thinking of us. Im not sure what the record is for longest flight home after a COG fly in is but we just got home today at 1 pm. Spent three days in Wayne NE, which was by pure luck one of four favorite stops. Too long of a story to tell on here but what an amazing town and people.

We covered almost 4,000 nm in 30.9 hours. We left two weeks ago tomorrow and in spite of numerous weather problems and two mechanical delays, we are finally home.

If anyone is interested here is our routing. Some weird ones due to deviations in ND/SD, WY, ID, and UT to try and get through the Rockies. Stayed over in Mandan ND; St Ignace MI; Mackinac Island MI; Dayton, OH; Wayne, NE; Gooding ID. Longest day- yesterday from Wayne NE to Gooding ID at about 1000 miles and 7.7 hours. Shortest day St Ignace to Mackinac Island - .2 hours and 5.5 miles :)

Look forward to next year.

Next time you decide to spend time in Wayne, let me know. Our lake home is only 45 minutes away by car

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Hi Tim
Hi Tim Sid here, nice trip back for you and the interesting report on Wyne, NE.
By the way regarding your flight from St Ignace MI; Mackinac Island M, you didn't report whether that was done VFR or IFR?

A request:
Julianna sent Vicki a message email possibly wrong should I send a you the message by the PM here?
Regards look forward to seeing everyone in OKC next year and in SnF and Oshkosh before that.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Hi Sid,

Whole trip was VFR. no major problems except for getting home through the Rockies, but it was worth it because of our Wayne NE visit.

I haven't gotten and messages on email. PM here would be fine

Tim
