A Great Time in Dayton

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Actually, I left so I would not have to endure having all'y'all sing Happy Birthday to me!

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Thanks to all for their gracious patience with a rambunctious 4 year old under foot

Heck, we've been putting up with Lonnie for years now. One more 4 year old running around isn't going to bother us any.

Did the hotel add a "fish tank restocking charge" to your invoice?

:D

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

I posted some of the pictures we took. (Wright-Pat Museum visit, Commanders on the field, and the final evening's festivities).

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

It was great to meet everyone and I will add my thanks to all the folks who put in the many hours I'm sure it took to organize such a nice event. Special thanks to the COG board who keep everything going.

I'm honored to be recognized for keeping one of our beautiful birds in good flying shape. I also appreciate everyone's warm welcome and look forward to seeing everyone again soon.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Fantastic week!

Thanks Pat for all of your hard work and planning!!!

I too posted some pics taken by Annie and Gabby to the gallery.

I also attempted to post a video of Saturday's Missing Man fly-over. I used my Garmin VIRB without a mount so the image is a little shaky.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

We are back with 14.1 on the Hobbs for a week of perfect flying! Great to see all our friends, and Lonnie too.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Free T-shirts this year?!

Well, actually they were 'Polo by COMMANDER' labeled, made in China. Absolutely Top quality ; and probably only Camellia, my Internationally reknown Artist would be astute enough to notice that the blue used on the stitched on 'Commander Aircraft Company logo label', sewn onto the Red shirt was changed to incorporate a lighter blue than COMMANDER in the 90's used, which was more of a Royal Blue (like the Stars & Stripes).

The lighter blue, actually called 'Cerulean Blue' is more of a pastel color that to her seemed to be an Asian influence, but also using the traditional logo but updating it to reflect a younger fresher appeal.

I Wonder if the classy stitching shading design on the pilot side wing, the Dorsal Fin, Vertical stabilizer/Rudder and Pilot side elevator---is a hint of a forthcoming new paint scheme.

Thanks for the info Sherman,

I will see if I can get a pair of socks to match.

Life is a barrel of fun.

Gang,

Got back to Toronto in 2.5 hours, with a scenic flight along Toronto's downtown. The weather could not have been more co-operative or severe Clear!.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Scott - we did a video recording of the Saturday workshops and the banquet so we'll eventually get all that posted for everyone to enjoy.

Speaking of which, we have a lot of video editing to do. Any volunteers for some of that work please contact me.

My understanding since our Oshkosh 'Dayton Discussions' was that while 'Sir Pat' was developing the program, including tech session speakers, BIRDSTRIKE BILL, our VP for Technical Operations', expanded the realm of his duties to Once Again (French Lick 2012) consult with, and negotiated the wonderful weather for the entire 'expanded event'.

He even arranged for a 'real pilot test for me. By the time we were able to take off on Wednesday, 4PM, the serious storm system was just 20 mins South of HWY, three scattered to broken layers were thickening E of the Shenandoahs (1500,2800,4800, 12,000 solid overcast).

I said ok, this is a 1 time shot, tomorrow will be socked in.Just gotta just go 'look & see'. So up we went climbing due West, between layers and VFR among the layers approahing the Shenandoahs.

At 6500 we were getting serious updrafts, so rather than fighf it, we went to 8,500 over the W
Va Mts. Then as we approached Parkersburg, the end of the of the overcast was in sight. Bill had arranged , as most of you who came in Wednesday know, Clear skies for our Arrival.
THANK YOU AGAIN BILL!!!
