A Great Time in Dayton

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

3hrs 45min direct to Islip at 11,500.
Great fly-in!

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

You Islip guys keep up the gatherings. In memory of our bud.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Back in NY after about 3:45 flight time, with a stop in KUNV with other NE COG folks for fuel and lunch. Exceptional fly-in, and a tremendous "THANK YOU" to Pat and his minions for a job well done.

Heard on the way home: "Commander 127XY, direct LaGuardia, direct Islip". I love it when that happens. :)

Hoo-haa. Weren't you fortunate. Great way to end a day of flying.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Man hate it when it's over!!!!!

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

After missing the last 4 fly in's, you guys welcomed us back like we hadn't missed any.
Great to see you all and see you next year or sooner.
Also great to see my old plane, Jeff you did a great job on my ol ramp rat

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

We had an absolute blast at our first fly in. It was great meeting so many people. We've only made it to Wayne NE today due to a fouled spark plug that thanks to an amazingly nice 80 year old hanging out in his hanger in the middle of no where Iowa helped me remove and clean. One more leg to here and we had to stop due to lowering ceilings and thunderstorms but if you are ever here I highly recommend this place.

I can't thank Pat Murphy enough for all he did to organize this event this year. I learned so much both days. As a relatively new owner the seminars were invaluable.

What I learned from COG fly in 2014;

1. Judi will drink at least two Bikini Blondes before she has to switch to Miller Lite

2. I'm glad I didn't volunteer my plane for Jim's gear demo

3. Mark from ps engineering and John from General Aviation are hilarious

4. Of the only one of the four groups at our table last night to not win an award, the Canadians were very gracious at allowing us two "losers" to sit with them.

5. Watching Lonnie run from the spawn of satan through the hotel was priceless.

Can't wait for next year. Thank you everyone

Tim

Dear Commander enthusiasts,

Sue and I had a completely enjoyable experience at the fly in this past weekend. The camaraderie was overwhelming! Thank you for the wonderful experience, the education and frank comedy! We look forward to next year's.

We are humbled too by the beautiful plaque, and we proudly display it in our home.

We did make it safely back to Midland, MI (250NM) in 1:45 duration, 60% FP. and YOU CAN GUESS what side of peek.

It was a pleasure to dine with Tim and Vikki at the banquet. We managed to cover up stealing of the table centre piece. ;)

Until the next posting, stay flying my friends!

Pete

This was my first Commander Annual Fly In. What fun. Made it back to Toronto in 2.5 hours. Talk about severed clear!

Wonderful meeting everyone and placing faces and voices to emails.

Thanks again for a wonderful time!

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Made it back to KDWH in about 5.5 including a fuel stop at KDYR. Had some good tail winds as well. I was at 8.5K untill KDYR then from there had to go higher to stay about the buildups.
It was really a pleasure to see you all again. N900CD sat next to her twin and that as a beauty to see.
Cant wait till the next fly-in to see you all again.
Great fly-in. Love it.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Hello all , Julianna and I had a wonderful time - sorry to have missed the last couple.
Meeting all my Commander 112, 114 & 115 including Hot Shot buddies was wonderful and coming to know the new ones was an expansion because coming is like going to a family reunion I- ts all fun & a lot of affection.
It was Julianna's first gathering of the type and she loved it.

Pat outstanding job you led your wonderful team of organizers very well.

Christina Zuo thanks for coming and saying Ni Hao Ma to all of us we look forward to seeing a growing factory next year.

Jim thanks for the knowledge and safety insights, good luck in your Commander endeavors. Carl thanks for your creativity also I am sure you and your family will miss your father and I am sure as an engineer he'd be proud of what you have engineered for our airplanes.

The Commander Aero Staff were wonderful too I have been through their facility a few times and so definitely know that Pat & team made a great choice going with them.

It was a fabulous all round weekend wish I could have joined the Air Force Museum tour.
The trip home to Norfolk VA was 3+1/2 in the Cardinal on a beautiful mid day across the beautiful Appalachian scenery. Smooth flying at 7500 and it was fun to chat with Sherman who was behind & nearly course parallel.

PS Scott I didn't know it was your birthday congratulations. Hey I feel really guilty now - I told Commander Aero to put my 25 gals on your card I will call and tell them to cancel if its not too late.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Thanks to everyone who put a great event together. It was sure nice to put faces to the comments we have been reading on the web board for many years.

We had a nice four hour fight home at 9,500 in beautiful clear sky, with a quick half way stop to clear Customs.

I can't see us missing next year in Norman. We hope to see some of you before that.

Don and Carol

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Well Done Mr. Murphy! Those of us who've done that dirty job truly know how much time and effort go into it!
It was great to see everyone again along with all those new faces!
Thanks to all for their gracious patience with a rambunctious 4 year old under foot, very much appreciated.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Special thank you to Ms. Christina Zuo and her associate for the new Commander Aircraft Corporation shirts

Free T-shirts this year?!

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Folks, what an honour and pleasure to have met you all and spent the time with you in Dayton this past weekend. We had a beautiful 2.5 hour flight home at 10,000 direct in to Kitchener, telephone customs clearance and back in the barn 15 minutes later !

Truly fantastic. Tony

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Non-stop MGY to RME, essentially no winds and as smooth as I've ever seen the whole way 3:22, 36 gals.

Spent a lot of time thinking about installing my new gas spring door kit. Thanks again Carl and once more, so sorry to hear about your Dad. BTW, your daughter is a lovely young lady.

Had a good laugh remembering what Jim Parker said to Jim Richards. That will go down in COG folklore. Enjoyed meeting everyone, putting faces to names and the seminars were awesome (Sir Pat, you out did yourself, hope you find that 114). A special callout to Scott; thanks buddy for helping me with my seats. BTW, I have your sweater.

Ahhhhhhhhh ... was just going to write you about that! It actually has some sentimental value, bought at Whistler Mountain years back with my youngest son on a trip there. When you get a chance, send it on the "slow boat" to
Scott Sedam
TrueNorth Development
26030 Pontiac Trail
South Lyon, MI 48178.

Thanks!

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Felt badly that I had to leave Saturday at 5:00. I hope someone ate my dinner! Have no idea who won what. Would be nice for someone to post that. Great to see everyone ... I am sure this was a record for Commander Canuk participation! Each year you meet a few new people that you know you will be friends with for a long time. And for those who I have known for 10+ years now ... isn't it just amazing how we just pick up without missing a beat. For the newbies, this COG crew is out there, wherever you fly, to respond and help or just welcome you to their hangar or town. We could not count the number of times one of us has helped the other out of a jam. These folks really will go the extra mile. Even when one of us gets a bit snarky on the board now and them, (certainly not me ever!) we always remain friends.

And Pat ... just a fantastic job. Set the standard.
