Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Donna and I would also like to express our gratitude to everyone we met at the fly-in. We had a great time and look forward to seeing everyone soon. Hopefully I'll still have the same wife:D

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Tracie and I safe and sound in Wichita. Had a super time and learned a lot. You are all great people (yes even you Lonnie) 😄 see you next year if not sooner!

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

I would also like to say how much I enjoyed meeting everyone and all of the events. Sir Pat Murphy (I understand we have to call him 'Sir Pat' now that he's been inducted into the Order of the Golden Tire) really planned a fantastic event. Hotel was great, FBO was great, and the company was simply outstanding!

And now that I'm safely back in Farmersville, I've got some work to do... :-)

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Roll call!!!! We made it home also 3:45 non stop and no one had to go to the bathroom this time. We had an awesome time and tried to punish our liver while we we're there. A Speical big thanks to all the ones that put it on espically pat Murphy. I can't wait till next year!!!! Craig glad u made it, and I guess ur alright to. Ha hajj

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Encountered fierce headwinds on the way home and ballooned my total enroute time to 10 min. ;-)

Great to visit with both new friends and old. Wonderful to see the flock gathered together. Hope to see all again next year. Until then, fly safe!

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Beth and I made it back to Maryland in time to see the start of the game Go Ravens! It was so good to meet all the new folks and spend time with old friends. Thanks to Pat for putting together one of the best attended fly-ins ever. The side trips to Wright-Patterson and Grimes were great and the presentations were some of the best we've ever had.

Hope everyone has a safe flight home. Until next year.....First of the Day!

Jim and Beth

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Back in NY after about 3:45 flight time, with a stop in KUNV with other NE COG folks for fuel and lunch. Exceptional fly-in, and a tremendous "THANK YOU" to Pat and his minions for a job well done.

Heard on the way home: "Commander 127XY, direct LaGuardia, direct Islip". I love it when that happens. :)

Lonnie,
Connie and I were right behind you, once I found out there was a clearance delivery on the field. :o SOLID IFR/IMC from the Tenn border, Made it in 3.9 non-stop to lower Bama.

Ditto on post fly-in reports!! For those new members unable to attend this year, please consider next year's event. Coming from a first timer and first timer "LOCO" - EVERYONE extended a genuine courtesy (often in the form of a cool beverage) and hospitable approach not only to Connie and I but also to the other first attendees.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

John I was at 10K and on top all way. Was smooth and winds more favorable. Glad made it home safe.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Non-stop MGY to RME, essentially no winds and as smooth as I've ever seen the whole way 3:22, 36 gals.

Spent a lot of time thinking about installing my new gas spring door kit. Thanks again Carl and once more, so sorry to hear about your Dad. BTW, your daughter is a lovely young lady.

Had a good laugh remembering what Jim Parker said to Jim Richards. That will go down in COG folklore. Enjoyed meeting everyone, putting faces to names and the seminars were awesome (Sir Pat, you out did yourself, hope you find that 114). A special callout to Scott; thanks buddy for helping me with my seats. BTW, I have your sweater.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Happy birthday Scott S.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Camellia and I are also home safe at Camp Camellia. 2hrs 44 mins , stretched my limits, but didn't have to teleport to Lonnie's on board restroom. We left just after Sid, Elliot & Greg. Severe clear except for the classic textbook Cu buildup 'front' 50 mi W of Parkersburg/Appalachian upslope. We were at 7500, talking to Sid and deviated to SE of course & up 6-800 ft before returning to 7.5. Tops were about 9. Overcast at @ 9000 as we crossed WVa Mts and the Shenandoahs.
Of course echo previous on 'Sir Pat' and the Tech sessions. Especially Jim Richards Gear system inspection demo. Stuff no one has ever articulated- even after 24 years if Commander 'Owner participatory annuals'. Of course I could have expected Pete to know-with his 31 yrs.

The event 'flew bye'for us all, now seems like just a magnificent fairy tail dream. Was wonderful to expand with previous characters, and great to meet our active forum posters etc. You know who you are that this was your first but now you know (as I did in 07), that this will not be your last. Also want to send congrats to the 'Winning birds' -your commitment s to 'further improvement' properly recognized!

Camellia and I also want to recognize the efforts of Heather as 'First Lady' and Glen, as our Prez for their tremendous efforts to help make the event '1st Among Equals', and especially motivating & involving Commander Aircraft Company staff.
Where do we upload the pics?

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

I have been to quite a few of the COG gathering and this years was by far the best. Thank you Pat.

My board of directors allow me to go to these events as I present them as safety seminars. And after this years events I will not have to lie to them.

After three years of owner assisted annuals at the Cape, I thought I knew all about a gear swings. Thanks to Jim I now Know a lot more. I am sure that the "Popsicle Stick" kit will show up on his web site very soon.

If there was one highlight of the whole trip, it was Jim explaining how to test the Squat Switch. I have racked my brains for a way to do this for a long time. Thanks Jim.

On my trip home I had to do an actual E-Dump when I stopped for fuel, knew my nose actuator was leaking as Frank had pointed out to me.

Just a little 5606 and I was on the way again.

How great not just to be a Commander owner, but also a Commander maintainer and under stander.

Thank you all for a great event.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

I want to thank everyone that came to the Dayton Fly In. This was not a one-person or even a ten-person event. It could not have happened if it were not for Glenn, Judi, Bill, Pete, Bob and others. Ultimately, it was successful because of you, your attendance and your individual contributions.

I had the pleasure to talk to the hotel and FBO People. They love the Commander People. The hotel and FBO liked us because we spent a lot of money. These People loved you because you are you.

For the 2015 Commander Fly In to be successful, you must attend and be yourself. To make it better, bring another Commander Owner.

Thank you.

Re: A Great Time in Dayton

Your NOT alone Jim; found a similar under wing skin actuator elbow fitting scrape (but actuator does rotate) ,up microswitch Tang replacement & adjustment, GX55 display started dying as we crossed crossed Shenandoahs, Interior Paneling & Carpet upgrades now on agenda.
G2 ordered, and considering a PS audio/Com as #2 radio acting up (screechy)+ the usual cosmetics:Door jam repaints, wing walk. And ordered Carl's lights strut kit. Thanks to Carl we know how to adjust the clearance.

Farmville huh- promised Camellia I'd service the Tree Farm Lodge Rainwater Harvesting Water system 'after Dayton'-Time for new filters, UV circuit board replacement-btw a Canadian company product. Innovative EPA &NSF approved..
