I think it’s time to plan or get off the pot. Most are ready to say ‘virus be dammed’, By the Fall all who care for the vaccine will have it. For me the only thing that could interfere is the youth deer hunt, MI. Other than that, I should be in.
OBTW, since work was pushing for it, I broke down & got the J&J shot. I already had Covid, so not really big on the shot.
The Mascelli's are registered and will book a room today for Friday morning arrival 9/24 and a Sunday departure 9/26.
We had planed for a quick stop then head west for the ABQ balloon fest but I hear rumors of next years beech aero club fest is going to be out west. With that hope, we'll push ABQ to next year and expand the western swing to do the left coast. This year, following COG Fest we'll maybe vist my brother in florida and knock out HGTV's Home Town in Laurel MS.
I am registered but I don't find the instructions for hotel booking anywhere?
PS. Anyone who is not vaccinated will have to have the government-mandated tattoo on their forehead, so I am not too concerned there. I have a friend whose company was commissioned to do the artwork for it. He showed me preliminary designs for the three options: One scary, one funny, one that just says"Stay the Hell away!" So for the anti-vaxers, it is nice that you are getting a choice.
PPS. I had zero reactions even after shot #2, 6 weeks back now, but the strangest thing. I had the second one at 7:00 AM and half an hour later I could hear Bill & Melinda Gates discussing what they and the kids should have for breakfast.
Reservations were great - I did the online form and they called back the next day and were very pleasant and helpful.
I think we can all use some serious R&R after this last year so I hope everyone can attend. Keep in mind that if flying in yourself won't work because of distances/schedules/maintenance/whatever, commercial service into Jacksonville FL (JAX) is only a 1-hour drive from the club.
I tried multiple times to do the hotel reservation online, but no joy. I called them and did it by phone and it was fast in easy, in case anyone has the same problem.
If you care to land on a 7000’ grass runway, the Triple Tree fly in starts on Monday the 20th and goes through the 26th. This would be a fun venue to stop at on your way to Jekyl Island. See if you can get your significant other to camp for a few days. They have wonderful showers with granite countertops.
K09J is 217 miles south of SC00.
I camped there three years ago and the shower facilities were fab. This is a small regional fly in.
I would guess that there were 100 airplanes in attendance. The runway is something to behold.
