2021 Fly-In

Everyone keep in mind that the resort is only an hour's drive from JAX. So even if you're crunched on time or if you're dealing with maintenance, a cheap JetBlue or Delta ticket will get you to the fly-in and back home quickly.

I reserved a two seat red bug for our stay. Mary and I are looking forward to meeting members and I get to learn more about our Commanders. win win!

We have three tee times at the golf course, 0808 plus, $69.00 18 with a cart. Let me know who wants to play thanks Pete

Good Morning from TFR laden KMQS
I was wondering if there has been an agenda put forth yet for our get together @ Jekyll Island? (other than golf.. LOL)

Looks like we'll have a range of seminars/panel discussions Friday and Saturday, Sat BBQ lunch (at the airstrip?), ramp judging of Commanders Saturday morning, and our Awards Banquet Saturday evening. Our seminar 'working list' includes sessions on Insurance, Commander Gear System & Troubleshooting, the Elevator AD, CAC Status and Parts Sourcing, and In-Flight Video Production. We're also continuing to work with a couple of vendors for presentation.

We'll have a printed itinerary along with BBQ lunch coupons & name badges for all attendees at check-in at the resort.

Golf on thurs, first tee time 0800.

Just spoke with John over at Red Bug Rentals. He said that their supply of carts, both electric and gas, are getting low for our weekend and anyone wanting a rental should make their reservation. Their number is 912-635-9330.

Also, everyone remember to bring anchors and tiedowns. Jekyll has 15 paved parking spots. Additional parking is on the sod area east of the taxiway to RWY 36 .

Just paid two for the BBQ that I somehow had missed. Now going to head to the hangar and look for tie downs and anchors to add to the go list. ;)

Also the bride wanted me to add an early arrival so the Mascelli's will be in on the 23rd, if the Jekyll club and red bug confirms. Also adding a few days over in Laurel MS after we leave the COG fly in. Kevin, sr30sb, we're going to head your way.

We are pleased to announce that, back by popular demand, we will conduct the COG Yankee Swap during the Saturday Evening Banquet.

Every member will be given a raffle ticket and all items donated by our fellow members and/or vendors will be given out raffle style. Traditional Yankee Swap rules will apply. So, if you can, bring a small Commander/Aviation related item to giveaway.

Also, we plan to present the Golden Tire award. Members at the airport will be observing the arrivals. The award will be presented on Saturday evening to the pilot with the most "interesting" landing.

Looking forward to a Great Time!

...Bob J.

I have not seen the detailed schedule layout for the Fly-In. Is it posted here somewhere? If not, can you post it?

I will be there.

Coming soon. I just saw the draft from Bob J. this morning.

FYI - A friend of mine was at Jekyll Island and said there are issues with the self serve fuel pump credit card machine. I went to the Foreflight page and checked out the FBO comments and there was still an issue as of this morning. I am going to call the airport for an update on Monday. I will report back.

Fuel?! They didn't have fuel last time we held the fly-in there.

Looks like they did some upgrades. It'll be nice if they get the pump working.

I called this morning and as of that call the credit card machine was still down on the self serve pumps. I then called the Jekyll Island Authority as the airport suggested and they said they had no idea who controlled the pumps. They said I should call the Red Bug shop and maybe they could help me.

We will definitely be making a fuel stop along the way, most likely KLRO in Mt. Pleasant SC. Easy in and out and had great full service service the last time there on our trip to/from Fort Pierce, FL. Their current fuel price is $4.95 FS 100LL.

If Jekyll gas is unavailable when we are there, its a very short hop (you won’t make it to pattern altitude) to St Simons where fuel is readily available.

Maybe, gas up and write them a check......

For those going to Jekyll, when you arrive at the resort there should be a COG Registration table in the lobby. You can pickup a packet containing your fly-in credentials, events schedule, and other information there.

Also, please remember there are only 24, or so, paved parking spots but plenty of sod parking so bring anchors, rope, or whatever you typically use for parking on sod just in case you need it.

A copy of the Events Schedule is attached.

Safe Travels Everyone!

All - please pick up your registration packet in the Morgan Center, not at the main resort check-in as previously posted. The Morgan Center is also where all the seminars/workshops will take place. The Friday evening reception is on the lawn behind the Morgan Center.

3-minute walk from main check-in
