2010 cog fly-in location

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Haggis is welcomed as long as it is nestled in w/ a couple of liters of Laphroaig or Bunnahabhain.

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Head count needed -
Ken Andrew has graciously agreed to host a pre-Fly-in gathering at his home base, Albany GA. Wed Sept 22.

He plans to have their pursuade his tourist board to help host a BBQ for Commanders who fly in. He will also have discount hotels and discount fuel at the FBO of ABY

www.airnav.com/airport/KABY.

ABY to 09J is 145 nm ESE course so you could fill up and arrive with 1 hr of fuel used at most.

Lonnie, Bunn, Walker, Pete and other are positive on this. Please let's do a head count right here if we get 20 or so airplanes who're flyingin from the West and the SE it will be a good deal for all.

Help Ken nail down the planning and hosting.

More info on the ABY entertainment, tours that will be set-up etc. will follow.

PS Ken may be persuaded to do a viewing of teh cow who loved him and scorned him.

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Sid Im not sure about pete but i thought he would due to be coming over with us. I know Jim and Greg are for sure.

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Wait, I was planning to be at 09J on Wednesday afternoon, is this Tuesday maybe?

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

I am arriving at Jekyll on Wed 9/22 already. How far to ABY from there?

They are back on speaking terms?

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Ken's gathering is optimum for people arriving from the W or NW and hence was planned for Wed with tour, BBQ, an overnight stay and discount fuel and then on to 09J Thu morn. For earlier arrivals its tough to do a Tuesday because the numbers would not justify a Tuesday night BBQ while they do favor a Wed evening BBQ & stay.

Note ABY is 145nm essentially W of 09J.

Bill & Radu go back to the previous postings I have planned a Wed night stop for the East coast people at Moorehead City MRH that is a convenient fuel stop along the coast to 09J - its quaint & charm place will repost the description Sat morn here. If we gather there Wed evening then we can fly as a flight of several along the coast to 09J 300+ nm. if consensus is for the EAST coast flyers to meet Tue I can shift it to Tues.

Let me repost program tomorrow morn for you to look at -

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

I'm still on the fence about the 2010 fly-in ... I really enjoy these.

However, my annual is due 9/30, maybe at the Cape this year. I might use CGI as a launching point for relocating N27007 and starting a new career in Los Angeles 10/4, based out of Hawthorne HHR.

Honestly, I don't care when or where I go or stop along the way as long as I will not end up drinking beers by myself at the Jekyll Island bar on Wednesday night.

Radu are you suggesting you will be buying beers at 09J Wed night if so you'll get lots of company!

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Yeah, my wife is paying.

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Radu,

I'm booked to be in Jekyll Is. on Wed. evening and plan on having a beer or two in the hotel bar. If we stop along the way first ala Sid's idea, that is fine, but I'll be on the stool next to you that evening! :D

Bill, sounds like a plan.

Wow. That's news. Obviously your trip out to CA worked out for you last month. :)

May I suggest coming down to the fly-in, then taking 007 to CGI afterwards for a factory annual? Take a commercial flight to NY (or CA) out of St. Louis.

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

We'll be 09J Wed as well. Be at CEU on the 20th for a couple of days. Perhaps I can check on sf's new ride. ;-)

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Radu, also arr. on wed, I'll get the first round.

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Pete are you going to want to make the Wed Night first night at albany for BBQ then go to Jekyell on Thurs or just go straight to Jekyell on Thurs

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

We have our room reserved on Jeckly island for Wednesday night. We are going to go straight to Jekyl vice going to albany and arriving the following day. Our car is also reserved for Wedsnesday at SSI also.

Note to Sid: Red Bug DOES NOT rent cars. They only have electric vehicles for the island. If you want a vehicle to get off the island you will need to rent from somewher other than Red Bug.
