2010 cog fly-in location

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Scott are you aware there is no fuel to be had at Jekyll Island, the nearest being St.Simons which itself isn't too shabby as a location. My 2 cents, all I can spare.

Hi Blaine. I am not on the selection committee this year although the Board yeas or nays the recommendation. but I know they are aware. They have looked far and wide. Fuel is available at SSI, 5 miles away, and Brunswick, about 8-10 miles. All things considered, it looks like Jekyll is the top choice of the team, (Sid, Byrne, Lonnie ... and ... and ... sorry I forgot who else.)

We will just have to remind everyone to land with at least 15 minutes of fuel!!!!

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Blaine,

If they had fuel a Jekyll Island we would not be able to afford it.

There is lots of low cost fuel within 50 miles. There are not that many ways to arrive with the big pond being to the East.

Only 144 miles for me, can't believe I have not flown there recently , last time I was there was 1969.

Life is a barrel of fun.

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

When can we anticipate a formal decision?

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Decision's actually been made for some time. Working out hotel contract provisions on wx no-shows, meal guarantees, etc. Coordinators looking for some final back-n-forth end of this week.

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

That's good news Judi, our flights are already booked so it will be good to get the other details sorted out.
We are really looking forward to it, just a shame that its a little too far to fly ourselves there:).

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

We may be picking up airplane parts in NY, so we may drive.

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Patricia and I will attend. I have booked the time off....

Looking forward to it...

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Radu/Glenn, Can we link banner to the one page pdf until details are ironed out?

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Should be 'live' tomorrow.

Susie - when you call for reservations note that they've got some very nice suites as well as the regular rooms (which are pretty plush already).

This should be a lot of fun.

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

I am going to be working in Austrailia from September 10 through October 10, so will miss the Fly-In this year. Duty calls. They still build houses down under. Made every Fly-in since my first at Gatlinburg. Will miss all'y'all. Without me to keep Sid and Lonnie in line, it could get really really interesting!

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

now Scott I resemble that last remark. LOL hate your not going to make itl Have fun down under though.

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Kendra laughed and told me that this one Commander pilot went through all the Alpha Bravo Charlie Delta Echo alphabet with her. She's still laughing about that. Anyway, I just realized that the Commander Fly-in falls on our 4th wedding anniversary, so for an extra good time, we are coming in on Thursday. Plan is now to rush back from Germany and jump in Commander to GA.

That was me :)

As I was making my reservations she was reading back some of my info and I told her that with pilots arriving, she'd better learn the proper terminology if she wanted to sound aviation savvy.

Just doing my part to educate...
