Hello group! - new member :)

I've found this to mostly be Bonanza pilots. Pretty much anything that isn't a Bonanza is classified as a PITA to them:-) What's a PITA? 1 cabin door Paying Raytheon part prices Anything powered by a Continental engine

    114 Hot Shot

Not any more. I'm exploring some options that might make it possible in the future, but for now, no.

    Sun N Fun 2022

True! But neither will the aluminum skin of your plane. Probably best to keep any yummy smelling food outside the plane when camping in the wilderness!

    Washington Football Team, Commanders?

Coulda been the Rockwell's, but then people would probably start calling them the Rockies for short, and that name is already taken.

    Do I fit?

If you do a lot of hard IFR, need to carry a lot of weight, and you want a plane that's really roomy and easy to get in and out of the 206/210 are the ticket. If you love to fly, and like to have a bird's eye view of the countryside, they're not so great. The panel is really high and...

New to Aviation Researching Commander 114

Well said Phil, and all true, but only 1/2 the equation :D. In the thinner air, at altitude, there's less drag on the airframe - a huge issue with our big, comfortable, wide bodied Commanders. The turbo allows us to get to an altitude where we can take advantage of the positive benefits of the...

    New Partnership w/EarthX batteries

H Adam, First of all I'd like to thank you for this discussion. This web board is a great place to air out ideas and share knowledge.Your contribution is very much appreciated. I think where we're missing each other is in the foundation of our justification for going from a Gill, or Concorde...

    New Partnership w/EarthX batteries

Makes no difference. There's no type certificated original, and no type certificated replacement. We're talking about TSO'd replacement parts only. Funny to be having this conversation.:) In 10 years we'll look back and laugh. "Lead" "Acid" in an airplane?! Grandpa did you reeeaaally fly around...

    New Partnership w/EarthX batteries

Great point! I read AFS-300 rev 6.0, and it does seem to point out a problem for those of us flying the earlier Commanders. For those of us flying with the EarthX, item F2 would be the problem. Neither the Concorde, or the Gill are approved by STC, so I can't use either of them. F2, of course...

    RCM available inventory

Yes, they can be installed by an AP, but do require someone with a fair amount of skill. There's some trimming, sanding, and fitting required, and will need to be painted before final installation. Someone with fiberglass, or home-builder experience is a plus. I can email you the install...

    RCM available inventory

They originally appeared in the late model Commanders in the late 90's. The Vendor they used to produce them went out of business and the molds were lost. I made new molds and began reproducing them about 5 years ago. They're fiberglass. They make the plane quieter - less wind noise from the air...

    N912JH in Tyler

Good to hear they're still open. I haven't been by there in a while. It is a really cool museum too - lots of military stuff, if I remember correctly. Next time we're together I'd love to hear your explanation of what hash browns are - not quite sure I know:-)
