I just bought N49AB,112TC, sn 13066. My wife Betsy and I are very excited to have this opportunity. We own a 1947 Stinson 108 that we have greatly enjoyed but it’s time for better capabilities.

We are working with the previous owner’s mechanic to address a few issues that have been discovered. One of them is the gear bell being so weak it can not be heard inflight with headset and normal noise. I remember reading a thread about connecting another bell in series with the old bell to increase the volume.
Would you have a recommendation of how to accomplish that?

Also, thank you for the operating tips that you shared in a post in this forum. I developed a checklist that combines your advice with the POH guidances. This was invaluable while I learn to effectively fly the Commander!

    Thanks again!

I would be more than happy to meet with you. We were just actually in Prescott last week although without the plane. We have some friends that live up there. I'll make the same offer to you. I am based at Glendale and if you're going to be down this way give me a call.
My cell number is 602-818-6469. Just be aware that after the end of the month I will be gone for an extended period of time.
    HI Joel...new guy Dick Foreman---taking delivery of my 112TC this week and want to do your strobe upgrades....Whelan part number on-line doesn't seem to work--can you confirm and also what the tail beacon part# is. Thanks! {"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"https:\/\/hoster3.commander.org\/vb\/filedata\/fetch?id=206693&d=1727350501"}
Hi Joel. I’m trying to locate the make, model and part number for my turbocharger on my 1976 112 tc. Any ideas. Thanks

    Sure- it is
    RaJay model # 600700-00 Part # 46A21184
The one that is currently on your airplane can be rebuilt. I have done mine a number of times. For rebuild options contact Main turbo

Thank you. Actually I am looking for a diagram that shows part numbers. I need bolts that connect the support bracket to the turbocharger and bolts that tie the turbocharger to the exhaust pipe. I appreciate your help.

Hi Joel. I’m looking for some miscellaneous nuts, screws, eylets and washers. I’ve checked with Aircraft Spruce and they were no help. I have part numbers. If I can’t locate any could I use stainless steel. They will be used on non critical areas.ie. Cowling areas.
    Hey Joel,
My plane is in for annual right now. I asked about adding the light for the gear pump you had mentioned previously. The shop asked if there was a schematic or if I had any additional information to share about how I wanted it connected. I figured it would be on the down side of the pump since it runs in two directions. Id is something that needs FAA approval?

    Thanks,
Joel, I’ve been in talks on a 79 112TCA. Think I read somewhere on here that you have helped ferry aircraft before and I might need to ferry this aircraft if I were able to make a deal to purchase. Would you be interested?

Good Morning - Good luck on the purchase.
Potentially - It would depend on where it is and needs to go and timing.
I will be out of the country from May 15 through the end of June.

Thanks for the response, we'll see what happens in the coming weeks. I've got a couple of trips planned in that time frame also.
Good morning Joel. I have a 1976 112tc. My mechanics have misplaced a few of my engine parts. I need 10-5200 carburetor and the piece that connects the turbocharger to the carburetor. I have been checking with salvage yards, Individuals in Colorado, Idaho and Washington, and online. Any suggestions. Thanks. John Martin jdm01@att.net or 916-996-9647

It was just a pretty long-winded thread on that carburetor by Moazzam Ali, who's in the process of installing a brand new engine from Lycoming. The carbs are available both rebuilt and brand new from Marvin schebler if necessary. Since the new engine from Lycoming included all of the connection sleeves I do believe that they are available but as we all know if you're getting it from Lycoming it's not going to be cheap.
Oh yeah and I would A- fire the mechanic and B Make sure he pays for the replacement parts. That's a pretty large carburetor I don't know how anyone misplaces it.

I have been trying to get in touch with Pete about IFR training. I emailed and messaged him through here but no reply. Do you have a contact number for him?

Thanks Joel, I just paid $50 for one that was incorrect. How about $70 including shipping. My address is: John Clunan, 521 Washington Hill Road, Chocorua, NH. 03817. If you have Paypal and if you would send me your Paypal address, I will tale care of it right away. Thanks again for your assistance! John
My apologies, first post...ever. I need to figure out the signature block. I found reference in the start up manual. I found what I was looking for anyway. Thank you.
    Commander91gm
    Commander91gm
Your welcome - The signature block is pretty easy to set up.
Just trying to get you the best support that you can get.
Many will look at a post with just a part number and just skip right past it because they have no interest in doing the legwork. They might have the correct answer and not know it because none of us can remember part numbers.
    Hi Joel,
Thanks for your reply, as stated in my last post, I am new to the Commander world.
I would appreciate if you could help.

    Thx,

    Frank
Hey how are you? Im looking for this part ,, its the power supply to fix my strobe light , do you know where to find it
    Commander91gm
    Commander91gm
Can't tell what it is from the picture is it the wingtip strobe power supply? If it's the wingtip strobe the power supplies then AeroFlash makes a replacement - there's information and part numbers in the hanger section.
Hi Joel, I just thought I’d let you know that my brother has a nice enclosed trailer that he used to haul his two motorcycles down to Arizona with, and he is selling it. He lives in Sun City close to where you hangar your Commander. I don’t know if you have any need for it, but it is new (2016), and in good condition. I believe It is about 16X8 tandem axle . Disregard this if you’re not interested, but I know trailers are nice to have around, like pickup trucks.

Thanks for thinking of me but I don't really have any use for a trailer. I'd rather fly than trailer the motorcycle somewhere
When you replaced your door seals, did you remove the doors from the plane or just remove the old seals, clean the surface and install the new seals?
    Commander91gm
    Commander91gm
Yes remove the doors which is really pretty easy just pull the two pins and then laid it on a table with some towels underneath it. I would be a real pain in the ass to try and do it on the plane
I received all the parts yesterday to make the seat rollers: Rotary Shaft 12L14 from McMaster-Carr for $3.61 each and Bearings 35JC12 from Grainger at $4.08 each for a total of $7.69 for each roller. I used a vice to press the shaft into the bearings and it worked great let me know what product you used and I will apply some to my rollers for extra precautions. I made 8 to replace all the rollers on my seats, best $80 I have ever spent, I installed them in the seats and they improved the seat travel by 100%, no more sticking and play in moving the seats.
Hi Joel, what did you replace with ? 12 volts ? I tried to click on your link of the PDF file but got a web error.

    Thanks ! Tony
