    Asbestos; again

Hi, Yes the only finding was some black 'bitumen-type' sealant around some ports on the engine-side of the firewall. It's considered lower risk as it is non-friable since the asbestos is contained within a compound. If you are going to work on a particular aircraft I recommend getting a...

    Instrument panel replacement

Hi everyone, Does anyone have information/design data for a 112A instrument panel which they can legally share? I have looked at panel planning software which includes 112-1 and 112-2 panels but I don't know how accurate these are or if they contain full manuafacturing data (e.g. sheet metal...

    Asbestos; again

Hi Rolf, Not yet. I bought the airframe from a guy who restores vintage aircraft and gave some reassuring commentary. I also contacted Commander Aircraft themselves but have yet to receive a reply. I have an asbestos survey booked for this Monday so I should have some definitive results by...

    Asbestos; again

Thanks Frank, This is obviously the safest was to do it but what about things which cant be sent for testing of I don't spot? What about the engine firewall? It seems a little strange that so many of these aircraft are flying about and there's not record or certification that they do not...

    Asbestos; again

Thanks Tony, I was was stripping the centre console today and found a panel of, what I think is, fiberglass insulation on the back of it. It's a dark yellow colour with foil skins either side. It's just starting to concern me given that asbestos was so common at the time this aircraft was...

Is anyone aware of the use of asbestos in any other parts of the aircraft, such as cabin insulation, mixed with fibreglass insulation? Thanks

    Asbestos; again

Hi all, Ia anyone aware of any use of asbestos/asbestos-based materials used int he Commander? I'm aware that earlier models used asbestos-containing gaskets in the engine shrouds but there's no other mention of it in the maintenance manual. I'm going to be stripping and refurbishing a...

    Rear seat installation bolt identification.

Hi Joel, Yes exactly these bolts. Any idea where they are in the Parts Catalogue or where I can get the part number to trace the size/spec? Thanks

    Rear seat installation bolt identification.

Hi All, I am trying to identify the screw/bolt/fasteners used to attach the rear passenger seats to the fuselage. I have identified the four fasteners at the front of the seat assembly, but the IPC doesn't show any of the fasteners at the rear of the base frame. Could anyone advise? Thank you

Thanks to all on this thread for your comments and helpful information/advice. The fuselage was delivered without engine frame or baffles so I'm quite happy. Thanks! Richard

    Commander simulator and Asbestos

Thank you, Tony. I certainly appreciate the response. I'll follow-up to check that the seals were in fact replaced with asbestos-free. This makes good sense so thanks for noting that. If I go ahead with the purchase then do keep an eye out for G-LITE as I attempt to give it a new life as a...

    Commander simulator and Asbestos

Thank you for your fast and reassuring response, Tony. Do these seals risk releasing asbestos if they are moved/bent/flexed during normal maintenance or baffle+engine removal? My concern is is that residual asbestos particles/fibers may have become free during engine removal and found there...
