Welcome to the new Commander Owners Group Forums. Please bear with us as the kinks are worked out and things are tweaked. If you have any questions or issues with the new platform, please post them here.
Dean,
forgot to mention, you have three options going north to Napa
the coast route may have fog
the Central Valley route may have haze with low visibility
the Owens valley route on the east side of the mountain range may have some good bumps
Bob
Hi Dean,
I fly a north or south route depending on weather/winds to avoid the higher mountains when flying to KFLY just south of you from southern California.
north route: KRAL HEC LAS PVU Provo pass KHCR EVW KRWL CYS KFLY
good overnight stop would be Spanish Fork, Utah by Provo
south route...
Thanks Pat,
I am due for my biannual in April of this year and I may be using a new instructor so this helps me greatly in knowing what to say to the CFI prior to flying with him. It appears to me that you did everything that you could to avoid the outcome.
Keep your chin up and take care.
Bob
Jim,
I think a new modern gear pump for our planes would be well received by the group. I would opt for a new pump vs overhaul of the old pump if required based on what the new cost would be.

Re: Great Bay NH
The high today in Southern California only got up to the mid 60’s but we braved the very very cold temperatures to fly up and see the snow in the local hills around Riverside.
Re: Another new commander owner
Congratulations Mark & Stephen,
You guys now have the best travel machine available. I have owned my 114 for 31 years and just returned from a close to 3-week trip to Oshkosh & other parts of the mid-west (30+ flying hours) visiting friends and the comments from...
Re: 2018 Commanders at Oshkosh
Dave,
We will be arriving on Monday and parking the plane at Fond Du Lac. We will be looking for Commander tails standing tall at Oshkosh.
Hope to see you there, Bob
Re: Costa Rica to 1WA6 (WA) July
Gonzalo,
That is some cross country flight in your 114, tops any distance we have flown in our Commander. Make sure to ride the ferries so you can checkout the San Juan islands or Victoria.
Have fun and stay safe.
Bob
Re: 42W in Oklahoma!
Very good write up on the trip Dean. Sounds like some of the trips we took with our Commander early on with mechanical issues until we got most of the bugs worked out. Weather is another thing and all I can say is be very flexible, something I was not very good at early on...
Re: Amazing weather
Herman,
Neat video - Thanks for posting.
Reminded me of a flight into Scottsdale one evening many years ago, saw lightning east of the airport on approach with an intense downpour just after leaving the runway.
