Ok folks I had an interesting day of flying today. Just got back from the airport. It is a beautiful day here today in Texas and the winds are calm smooth. Went out this morning to do some IFR work. Then decided to stop at KTME to top off my tanks. Well I did my normal landing procedure checks, flaps 10, gears down, mixture full rich then I realized I did not feel my gears come down, check the gear down indicators and voir la, they are not on. No three green lights, recycled the gear switch, as per the emergency procedure, and still no dice. Checked the breakers, all were in. Oh dear I have a problem, said I.
Headed back to DWH and informed the Tower I was having a little issue with my under carriage. The response from the tower was: "With what?". Under carriage, I said. Oh I mean my landing gear. So now were are all on the same page. Tower and I. Any thanks to the emergency gear system, I slowed the airplane down to less than 80kts, pulled the red knob and bang I head the mains come down, and just as the airplane slowed to 65kts, the nose gear come down and locked. So landed as softly as I could and taxied to the hangar. 0CD will be visiting the A&P tomorrow morning for a check up.
My question is what could have caused this? I went flying the previous day with the children and we had no problems or any indication of a problem brewing with the the landing gear. When I took off this morning the gears come up with out a problem. Which I believe means the hydraulic pumps were working at the time of take off. What could have caused it stop in flight?
