Liquid Gold! An early Christmas present Scott Sedam N4843W scott@truen.com

We bought this house 17 years ago, it was a barn built in 1828 and as such has a lot of secret places -- pump house, milk house, etc.., places where things can sit undisturbed for years. Anyway, I opened a box today that I just figured was an old box of my junk and it was one from the previous owner.  In it, I found LIQUID GOLD in the form of 8 cans of K-Mart 10w-40 PLUS oil!!! (Plus what, it does not say, but it must be something really good!) You can just imagine my excitement.  Like Christmas ... two days before Christmas !!!

Now ... I know I could just send this to Ken and he'd put it in one of his trucks in a Liverpool minute. But I thought that, well, maybe it would be fine in my 22 horse John Deere tractor -- or not.  This oil is at least 18 years old and I know that gas goes "bad over time" -- something to do with additives, I recall (?) but does a closed can of oil ever really go bad?

Now, some of you may scratch your heads and wonder what this has to do with flying -- but it absolutely does.  This oil is worth about $25. So if I don't use it, I will have to spend that $25 on new oil, and that is $25 I cannot spend on the Commander.  (Duh!)

I have developed an expectation, well-substantiated, that no matter what the question, someone on this board will have either an educated answer or an impressive-sounding guess.  I anxiously await the verdict.
