Hi All,
I am just thinking out loud right now. If a Commander owner were to have trouble in South Georgia or North Florida, it would be a privilege to have the opportunity to help him.
I have a spare room, a spare vehicle, hangar space, parts, connections, fax, Internet, tools, jacks and just everything that a downed Commander owner needed. Even a gallon of 5606.
You do not take me out for dinner, just a place to stay and get the plane fixed. Whatever it takes. And then be on your way.
If I am in Arizona on my way to Nevada, and I have problems, this is what I would want.
No entertaining, No fancy meals, just a place to sleep and work on the plane. And maybe borrow some parts or wait for parts to arrive.
There are many fine Commander owners all over the United States and Canada. Some are mechanically inclined, others are not. Some work on the planes and carry parts, others do not. Some of us have mechanics that are familiar with Commanders, others do not.
The greatest fear on a long trip is being deserted at some far away airport with no parts and no help, being at the mercy of some crazy A&P who has just seen his first Commander, but knows everything there is to know about a Commander. The mechanic that does more harm to the aircraft while ignoring your every plea.
To be able to go to the COG website and enter in the zip code, and then to get a list of local Commander Knowledgeable willing hosts. Am I dreaming?
If I were to have trouble in Wyoming, I know I could call Robin. I know what kind or person he is. And how willing he would be to help. And considering that my Hotshot is still covered under the twenty-year warranty.
It would be interesting to see a map of the USA and Canada with a dot for every Commander owner who is into his own maintenance. Who stocks parts
Just a thought folks,
Life is a barrel of fun..
