I flew this weekend back and forth to CGI  without any problems.

Yesterday morning I flew to Danbury again without any problems.

However, last night, there were some issues on the trip home from Danbury (after dark).

1.       I did my preflight and there were no problems noted.

2.       I had all the nav lights and strobes on.

3.       I set both my GPS’s for Republic and departed.

4.       I raised the gear and noted a continuous “whine” in the headsets.  They have always been free of any noise.

5.       Next, the primary GPS began to cycle on/off every second.

6.       I checked the breakers and they were all fine.

7.       I re-seated the primary GPS, but, it still continued to cycle on/off every second.

8.       I shut off the strobes and the primary GPS stayed on, but, the “whine” remained.

9.       As I neared Republic, I extended the gear, BUT, the nose gear light remained off.

10.   I checked the green nose gear bulb, but, it was okay.

11.   The primary GPS began to once again cycle on/off every second.

12.   I did a low pass by the tower and they said the nose gear “appeared” to be down, but, they could not verify “locked”.

13.   I did a VERY soft landing without incident, however, the nose gear light remained off, the “whine” persisted in the headsets, and the primary GPS continued to cycle on/off every second.

I realize the most likely issue is poor ground wire(s) and/or bad micro switch.  It’s seems too coincidental that the “whine” in the headsets, the primary GPS on/off issue, and the nose wheel light remaining off all appeared at the same time.

I’m getting this looked at by Ed before flying again … it’s just not worth the risk.

I’ll let you guys know what we find.
