Anybody with experience on this unit?

Here's mine:

NSD-1000 Slaved HSI
Bought it in 1998. All electric version.

600 hours- spun out on the way to Bahamas. Got Vacuum loaner from Mid continent. $3500 overhaul repair.

55 hours later on the way to Alaska rotor locked up. Sent vacuum loaner again to Fairbanks. Warranty.

@ 900 hours Aug 2006 rotor locked up. Sent to Mid continent again- another $3500 repair.

Currently started to make noise. Islip Avionics had a vacuum version on the bench to loan me. Sent to Mid Continent again and found no problems. (BS) Tagged it and is sending it back.

Apparently the all electric 14v version runs too hot killing bearings. The 28v version  not so. 

Vacuum non issue, 1000' s hours at a clip.
