Mysterious Vibration Joel Schwartz Commander91gm commander91gm@cs.com
Need some help and advice.
To comply with the Hartzell AD I recently replaced the original two blade prop with a three blade.
Since doing so there is an annoying vibration that was not there with the old prop.
It is most apparent in cruise and worsens at higher power settings.
The plane recently went through annual and compression on all cylinders was within a few pounds of each other. I also had the mags redone (they were due and it eliminated one variable). I had the engine dynamically balanced with no apparent change to the vibration ( it wasn't very far out).
Spark Plugs are new and the cylinders are running within 100 degrees of each other. Cylinder 4 is the coldest and runs about 100 degrees cool (EGT) but it was that way before the prop install.
Hartzells answer is to remove the prop and turn it 180 degrees and reinstall.
That would be the next logical step but I wanted to first see if anyone else has experienced such a problem and if any of you have any words of wisdom or suggestions.
On a totally separate note - any suggestions on a good way to clean the gunk out of the wheel wells?
Thanks
Joel S
