Gear Bell Ken Andrew ksandrew aviation@andrewtent.com
Looking for Ideas.
After gear retraction I get a yellow light that is a visual clue to the gear-warning bell, it does not happen all the time, just once in a while and this has persisted for 18 months.
Until today I thought that it meant that the gear was not up against the up micro switches. After removing the ”nose up” one and playing with it outside the wheel well, I found that it worked the red gear in transit light.
Recycling the gear always cures it. From once most of the time to up to four times. But it always works.
Using the bose headsets I did not know that the gear bell was always ringing when the yellow light was on.
I have checked the throttle switch setting and it is correct, the flap one I will look at next week during annual at the Cape. I have looked at the wiring diagram with a magnifying glass. Still no idea.
Turning off the avionics master will turn off the yellow light. For some unknown reason it is on the same breaker as the transponder.
There is some connection with the gear.
I am beginning to suspect poor insulation on a wire as it appears to be a grounding that sets off the bell/light.
Any ideas? I go to the Cape for an annual on the 17th. But would like to cure this ahead of time.
I hate to admit defeat.
Ken Andrew.
