Alternator Problems Jim Bunn JBunn jwbl@cablespeed.com OK... This is getting frustrating, about 200hrs ago I had an alternator problem. I replaced the alternator P/N ALX8421R3 with a rebuilt P/N P/NALX8521RS. When I started the plane I got a squeal that sounded like a belt slipping. It would last for a few seconds at start-up then go away as throttle was advanced. I noticed whenever I loaded the alternator up with High current items IE: landing light pitot head strobes etc. the squeal would return. My mech called the company and they sent new brushes. I had no problems for just over 200 hrs when recently I started the plane and heard the squeal return. again it goes away when some power is added but when I turn things on one at a time, after I got about three high current draw items on line the squeal would return. Anyone had a similar problem? Could it just be the brushes need replacing again or do I bite it an get another alternator?
Thanks
