112 Fuel Selector Valve & Fuel Cap Update Clark Andrews iflysan iflysan@sbcglobal.net Folks,

I was wondering if anyone was familiar with SB-112-44A; "Replacement of Fuel Selector Valve". This service bulletin was never implemented on my SN# 144 aircraft as it appears I have the original "vintage" fuel selector valve. This version has a the both wing inlets coming in at about a 135 degree angle (they use 45* NPT to AN fitting) versus a 90 degree (with a straight NPT to AN adapter) on the more modern P/N 635013-1 Fuel Valve.

It appears that the bulletin mandates that you "hog out" the center console to handle the geometry of new fuel valve, remove the tube supplying the engine and replace it with a hose S0420-H-01-300 and then add two sump drain valves near the wing roots. This seems like a bit of work and since the bulletin appears not be mandatory I was wondering if there were any opinions on the wisdom of SB-112-44A.

The other issue was the possible replacement of the old style "top hat" fuel caps with the more modern flush mounted versions that are used on the later Commander models. I tried and failed to find and documentation on an update procedure. Does anyone know if there is document to cover this or if anyone has experience doing this update of a 337?

Thanks - Clark - 144TP undergoing "restoration"
