Hi Tony. Follow up to the fuel strainer question: did you reseal your own tanks? Seems like a daunting task, however, I’m not finding any good options in my search. Can’t imagine how long it would take. Could that Polygone be used to soften and/or remove the old sealant? Thanks. Larry
Hey Judi. I’m having a heck of a time working with PMing. Particularly, finding previous replies to my PM’s. What am I missing? Thanks. Larry
Hi Josh. I’m speaking to Travel Express about this right now and may go in their shop next week. A little uncomfortable about the arrangement: can’t tell me how much it will cost until they do it. Somewhat of an open checkbook deal. Is that the approach they used with you? What hourly rate did they charge you (if you don’t mind my asking)? Thanks. Larry
I would be interested in the Century llB unit only. Nice to have a spare, for sure.
Let me know your price and its condition.

You can call me 360 907-4363.

Hi Frank, everything I used on the Century IIB worked as it should, heading, track, roll etc. I would have liked the turns when using the heading bug to be about 5 deg more aggressive, but I'm sure that can be adjusted. What would you be willing to pay for the head, servo, and controller? I'm working this morning, I'll be back this PM.
Thanks David Price

I didn’t reach out to Adam this week to make sure that was the next move. I’ll check in with him this week and see what he has to say.
Good evening John,

I hope you had a pleasant trip to Myrtle Beach. I would enjoy speaking with you about the Commander and your experience so far. It would be really nice knowing local Commander pilots. I know there is one at Lakewood N12 and I am reaching out to him as well.

Have a great trip and Happy Holidays!

Hi Frank. Yes was a nice but long 11 hr trip with my wife daughter and dog. If we had our plane I think it would have been a 3 hr flight:). I have an offer in on a 112A ‘76 in Washington State. It’s getting it’s annual the first week of January and then We will do the Pre buy. I’m using Savvy Pre buy assistance(1st plane purchase for me) and then intend on using their maintenance services. I had an offer on a 114A in Florida….its still on Controller. turned out to be a real dog. Definitely NOT as advertised. Tried negotiating on one or 2 others and we couldn’t agree on price.
I think those planes will be on the market for a LONG time at what they want!! So I decided to turn my attention to the 112. A bit light on useful load but it will mostly be my wife and I. That’s when I found the 112A in the Seattle area. Seems to be in really nice condition though avionics need updating. So if the deal goes thru I will be adding a GPS/Nav/com, maybe aspen E5 and an engine monitor for sure.. and planning to change out the battery to the EarthX mod and swap out the prop for an MT. That right there will boost the useful load 60+ lbs.

My phone number is 908-468-0102.. give me a call after Christmas and we can Chat? Looking forward

John
Any experience with overhauling the Hydraulic Power Pack? I got it overhauled in 1999 and the next time in 2019. Now it does not hold the gear up pressure again, causing the gear in the up position to recycle constantly. Any suggestion where to send it for overhaul?
Thanks
Peter
Morning Jim, I used the file and had a scoop printed a while ago but have never gotten around to having it installed and I wanted to check with you to see if you installed it, if so, how did you attach it and most importantly, how has it worked to improve your heat?
Look forward to hear from you. Happy Holidays!
John
Hi Bob,

Any word on reimbursement for the barbeque that we paid for in September? I sent you and message back in October about this.

Thanks,

Robert Gorman
Could you send me the particulars on the robotow you have. That's what I'm looking to buy if I can find a used one.

Sure - it's in Oregon with the airplane (in the shop for avionics upgrades) at the moment. I'll see if I can dig up the model number.
It's one of the older units. I think I paid $1400 for it.

After looking through emails and such I don't think I have the model number available. It'll have to wait until I get the airplane back, which will be a few weeks.
Hope your South American trip went well. How do I “post” a question to everyone ? I need to buy a new “Gear Down” limit switch.

Thanks

Hey Phil.. it was great...the beach and the drinks were amazing!!

to post the question, on the main forum go to the parts wanted section and make a new post. Do you need the big squat switch?
bought a 114 yesterday. Flew from Cleveland to Carbondale IL yesterday morning: love the plane
Cheers
We are 3 owners we share the use of our rockwell commander AC 112 we live in France more precisely in the west of France in Brittany and we have just carried out a raid (4130 MN)that brought us with our plane from our city of Saint-Brieuc to Saint-Louis of Senegal in Africa following the air route traced by the pioneers of aviation and in particular Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Mermoz during the operation of the lines of the airmail.
Hi Sam,

I'm another Commander 114HS owner, up in Grand Prairie, TX. I'm trying to make contact with other 114HS owners to collect performance data and pilot procedures so we can compare notes and maybe have a better idea what to look for in performance degradation and hopefully learn from each other. I don't have too much to offer at this point, just trying to gauge interest. If folks are willing, I'll put together a spreadsheet or something to capture climb, cruise, descent procedures (cowl flaps, MP, RPM, mixture/temps) people use and the speeds/fuel flow they get out of them. What do you think? I know you've only had the STC for a short time, so this might be particularly useful to you.

BTW, I know a previous HS owner, who said he normally flew 7500-9500 ft at 24/2400, 12.9gph and got about 150KTAS. I'm about 10kts slower, which is what got me interested in this. I have a friend with a normally aspirated 114 and he gets better performance at low altitudes, too.

Thanks,
Don

Hey Don,

Absolutely, I would love to participate in data collection and would be very interested to know what performance others are seeing. I have a 3-bladed flat tip McCauley prop STC, so that will affect the numbers as well. I've been flying 10.5k-12.5k at 24/2300, 13-14 gph and seeing 145-155KTAS-ish. We have a JPI700 engine monitor on the plane, I could pull some data off of there to get a better idea of performance on my more recent flights. If your spreadsheet is on Google, you could add my email address: dondiego152@gmail.com. I'll share it with my partner, Drew.

Thanks,
Sam
