Hello everyone, My name is Bob Walstad. My wife and I own N4679W, a 1978 112TC-A. I've been a member here for a couple years but haven't posted. I bought "Rocksie" in May of 2020 and I immediately had a Garmin GTX 345 ADS-B, A GTN 750 XI, A new ELT, and a GMA 35C audio panel. Then last year we upgraded our 8 pack for two GI 275s PFD, and MFD.
We have loved this plane and have flown into over a hundred different airports since then.
Now we are replacing our old auto pilot with a GFC 500 and adding a GI 275 EIS.
My problem is the steering yoke is too small to feed the trim toggle and wires through and my A&P installed a flat plate on top to house them. We both agree it doesn't look good. He suggested I try to get an updated yoke from maybe a newer model.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Joel, looking into it now. The one Moazzam had looked terrific.

My yoke has three buttons on the right horn - Top- AP disconnect, Top back - Push to Talk, Backside of top - CWS

It can all fit. Don't go with that plate - it is not necessary.

I just finally finished the Garmin GFC500 autopilot upgrade with two GI-275s replacing the old attitude indicator and directional gyro instruments which then allowed the entire vacuum components to be removed. So now in addition to the mic button in front I have an a/p disconnect button and the dual trim switch. I was expecting the “hang off” plate like you got but the shop managed to do a very professional job getting the dual trim switch in the top of this same yolk. The disconnect is down lower but they will move it on the edge also after I complained. EDIT: I have attached pics. It can be done however.

Thanks! I let my guy know it can be done.

Did you have the right horn drilled out?

Bob,

Here is another series of posts. Search for "Cygnet/Beech Control Wheel / Yoke - owners - question/favor" - it's 5 pages long - but has some info that may help you too.

I'm sure he appreciates it- at the bottom of that post, there was a link that took you to the thread that you were suggesting.

Hey Jay, thanks for the pics. Did you have the right horn drilled out? Are they already hollow?

As best I know, the yokes are solid castings then milled at factory for controls originally. To get the dual-trim switch on top, the avionics shop milled it out a little bit more.
