Going to Houston at the end of the month...plane will be tied down at Sugerland...from there onto to Dallas/Ft Worth...can anyone recommend an airport to tied down in the area? Will be going to the George Bush Library and to see the area by the Dallas Book Depository..thanks!!:)

Re: Where to stay

Addison, Dallas Executive, and Arlington are all nice, just depends where you want to be, cars available, etc. If you are on flight following, clearance into the Bravo airspace is easy. Just avoid coming in along the routes of landing and departing planes...

Re: Where to stay

At the book depository be sure to get the flyer from the guys who say they know who really did it!

Re: Where to stay

Don't forget Gilley's in Dallas and Billy Bob's at the F/W Stockyards. Nice restaurant strip at the stockyards. In Houston and Dallas - Pancho's Mexican Buffet is fun to eat at, go through the line once then raise a Mexican flag on your table when your ready for something. Hardly 5 star but good food. Also - Frontiers of Flight Musemum at Love Field. Have fun, safe landings . . .

Re: Where to stay

Most of the folks with money (and therefore most of the nicer airports) are on the north side of town, which includes Addison, etc.

But Downtown Dallas is the southern side of the metro area.

You do realize that you can go to Love Field without a landing fee or much security? That's why Southwest was restricted from direct flights for so long, it's technically a "municipal" airport.

Fuel is gonna be a dollar more or so, but there are lots of GA FBOs there.

I have flown into Love Field several times and it has been great.

I live about 10 minutes from the George Bush library here in College Station. You can land at CLL (Easterwood) which you can see the library from the airport. Also a couple miles further is CFD (Coulter Field) If you decide to fly here either airport would do you well. CLL also has transportation more readily available.
