What are you listening to?

Re: What are you listening to?

Once returning to ISP, I was IFR in IMC and water got into my vacuum filter.
The DG and AI quickly filled with water, lost both of them and my A/P wanted to try to fly upside down. I was listening to a R.E.M. CD and just then "It's the End of the World" started to play. NY ATC was somewhat helpful, told me bases were 1,100'. Had to use T/C, compass, and VSI to keep me right. Now I have dual vac / electric systems.
I am dying to know: How did water get into your vacuum lines? And how in sufficient quantity to get the AI and DG filled. Your plane [should] be using vacuum, not pressure. That means there would have needed to be a water source inside your plane?!?! Near the filter, or by a line or something?!?!

Please fill us in on this one.

Regards,
Neal

Water was running onto the vacuum filter inside the plane. When I brought the plane to the avionics shop, he had someone point a water hose at the plane, while we both watched the vacuum filter get soaked. The leak was fixed, instruments overhauled and has been fine ever since.

Amazing!

So where was the leak? The windshield?
