Weekend Off!

No work on Friday so..................
Loaded up the wife and flew down to Casper Wy (KCPR) to pick up a friend and head over to Cody for the weekend.
Heavy clouds (Cummliogranite) forced us up to 12-13k, Diverted over to Thermopolis through broken layer for breakfast. About an hour later took off under overcast skies which gave us rain, snow and finally a little sun for landing at KCOD.
Buffalo Bill Museum for the rest of the day, Stayed at friends about 58 miles up in the Absaroka mountains.
Beautifull weather all day Sat, so we went out and annoyed the local animal population. The wolves are getting a little too comfortable here.
Sunday, CAVU all the way back.
I LOVE having a airplane, really, I love it!

Sounds great Kevin.

Re: Weekend Off!

Kevin,

You're in a beautiful part of the country. What a great experience, it's so different here but beautiful just as well. I am going up this morning now that tropical storm Alberto has started to move out and away from the coast. Your wolves act like our local residents, ours like to swim, alligators.

Alligators, really? I will be out to NC later this year and now I have a reason to go to SC! Anyone passing through this area is welcome to stop by, Plenty of room.

Re: Weekend Off!

Wow Kevin nice flight description and nice pics. We had a great Saturday and a rainy NorEaster drizzly Sunday with sub 1000 ft ceilings and no flying.

No wolves or deer on offer but I can offer up these cat pictures from Saturday.

Let's hope teh boy in the last pictures is infected by teh same fever theat enrichens your life Kevin and teh rest of us COG and pilots at large.

This was teh Warbirds over teh Beach flyin at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, VA

Re: Weekend Off!

Sounds like a fun trip.
The return for most of the COG group that went to Alaska in 2009 included a WX diversion stop overnight into Cody. Great place and well worth the visit. I believe Bill Bailey and Sven also hit the museum the next day. Good stuff.

Kevin, are you thinking about flying to COG? I have some work in Coeru d' Alene and was thinking of flying back from there to the fly-in. Looks like Hulett is right on the way. Let me know. scott@truen.com
