Vegas Baby!

Looking for advice on airports close to a little town called Indian Springs, NV. It's about 50 miles north of Las Vegas. The Army is sending out to the Air Force Base there--Creech AFB to play with all the Predator Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. Moving to North Vegas and basing out of the North Vegas Airport seems the only option but hoping some of you West Coasters have some recommendations. For those interested, I'll be moving there in October.

Re: Vegas Baby!

Could fly into St. Geo. Utah and drop down. Cool airport locatoin, nice town and a beautiful drive.

Didn't you just move to the northeast a few months ago? :(

Did you forget your meds again Scott? Steve is looking for info on where to keep his plane not how to get there.

Re: Vegas Baby!

yeah ... the alarm didn't go off. I thought this was just a temporary move. Well, North of Vegas said "UP I-15" to me, in which case, the new airport going in at St. Geo. is well south of town, and would have been a viable option if you were 45 miles north of Vegas going that way. But google map reveals that where he is going is more like WNW of Vegas. My bad.

Re: Vegas Baby!

I flew through North Las Vegas last Saturday. Very nice airport, full service fuel at $5.10 per gal. VFR corridors make it possible to get in and out with out much trouble. I ended up at Inyorken (IYK) the airport next to NAF China Lake (my son plays with F-18's there). It was a nice facility with lots of runways, just buried in a bunch of MOA's. There are a few small airports inside the MOA's that fill up that area, but it's easy to get in and out by talking to Joshua Approach. You may find some interesting flying destinantions.

Re: Vegas Baby!

Hey KellyB. Please go to your profile and add your name, location, tail #, airport ident and city. It is really nice when we are responding to posts to know who is who and where they are from. tnx.

I confess my eyes watered a bit when I saw that beautiful BWAHAHAHHAAHAHAHA pop us .... I had been wondering if you were still alive, Gary. Being torched by you is one of the things that make my life worth living:D

Frank,
Only been home for a year and now back out the door. I told my wife to come with me and be a casino cocktail waitress. She just smiled and said she'd keep her contractor job in the Pentagon. Miltary and marriage make for some interesting challenges.........

Too bad. The pictures would be better than any of Jim Bunn's up in the banner rotation. :D

Airnav shows a couple of Dept of Energy private airports closer than North Vegas which the Army might be able to commandeer for you. It also shows a fly-in community, in case you need off-base housing too.

Roger that, Scottius!!:p

Have been very busy trying to find business!! I'm sure you know the feeling. Housing and Automotive Tooling markets are in the toilet and have been for quite some time.

I'm not sure the domestics(GM,FORD,CHRYSLER) even want to sell cars in the U.S. They send all of the tooling contracts overseas and are closing/consolidating plants everyday.

The new domestics(HONDA,TOYOTA,NISSAN,VW,BMW,MERCEDES) have built or are building US assembly plants that employ US Citizens, who buy their own products. Hmmmmm...what a concept....Oh wait, Henry Ford already thought of this.

Then why don't the domestics get it?? Corruption? Corporate Greed? Don't care?? All of the above?? Probably!!

Hummer is being sold to the Russian Mafia, China is a shoe-in to grab Chrysler just as soon as Cerberus has its fill of loosing money....and on and on and on...................

Y'all better get a hankerin' for scorpion on a stick and wodka, straight up!!

Buy lots of ammo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RANT OFF!!!

Re: Vegas Baby!

As I have been telling all of the execs. in the housing industry .... "do you see any problem that virtually NONE of the people who BUILD your houses can afford to BUY them !?!?!?!?!?!"They don't get it.

If we did something as simple as require everything outsourced to be produced by the same rules (which are mostly fair) we impose on our manufacturing, the playing field would level immediately and work would stay here. How is it allow American companies to circumvent our health, safety & environmental laws by outsourcing? No sense at all.

Thanks, Ken.

But I have already accepted a position with the new "Circumcision Factory" that just opened in my neighborhood. It doesn't pay much, but I get to keep the tips!!!:D

Spot on, Scott.

We can compete with anyone, including labor rates of $0.68 cents an hour, but are stiffled by government regulations and business taxes. Congress has no clue. We are selling our sovereignty at an accelerated rate and no one cares. Our national security has been compromised by the outsourcing and demise of manufacturing in the U.S.
If it wasn't for manufacturing, you would all be speaking Japanese or German, right now.
Ich bin teilweise Deutsche und ich spreche veilen Deutsch, but I do so because I want to, not because someone told me to!!! Big difference.

Buy lots and lots of ammo!!!!!!!!

Re: Vegas Baby!

425 congressman, 100 senators, 9 supreme court justices, 1 president. 535 people who run this country of over 300 million. Virtually all of our problems can be traced back to these 535 people. Can someone tell me why 80% of these morons keep getting re-elected? Perhaps the real morons are those who keep voting for these people, expecting them to fix the problems they themselves have created.

Point well taken, Allen.

But, even if we vote to oust all incumbents, then we are left with inexperienced dolts just waiting to make a name for themselves.

They will also receive a substantial percentage of their wages for life and lifetime benefits that are second to none.

It's a lose-lose situation, at best!! The time is just about right for another revolution, in my opinion. Time for the people to take back control of their own destiny.

(knock,knock,knock) Someone's at my door.....................................

Re: Vegas Baby!

Justices are not elected but I get your point. The general public is loaded with morons. Oldly enough i don't believe that either party speaks for the majority of the public but we keep electing from these same two party's.

Re: Vegas Baby!

You always have to be careful what you ask for. In Michigan we voted in term limits ... seemed like a great idea. Now, most of the rookies are idealogues and none of them have any history with each other (or fear!) and they constantly attack and draw lines in the sand ... as a result, we don't get crap done !!! always unintended consequences.

Hey look at our current canditates. They are both talking about Iraq, that is good, but rather vague about what each would do. Some on energy policy, that is good, but again, they are being very careful.

But look at the budget busters (and the budget crisis is huge and getting worse.)

Social security? nothing meaningful proposed by either
Medicare? nothing meaningful
Healthcarecost? nothing meaningful

If they take a position, everyone hates them. We KNOW retirement for our kids will have to be 70, as it damn well should be. Crap, in the 30's life expectency was 60. How about this ... go with the original design ... you get soc. security FIVE YEARS AFTER the average life expectency! That would solve that! Wow ...I am on to something. You get BOTH a cost of living adjustment each year, AND a life expectancy adjustment! Ah hell, just make it the SAME as life expectency ... that is when you were meant to retire, unless you have means or you kids will take you early. when in the history of the planet was retirement ever a God-given right from the government? Crazy.

Let's see them float that puppy in the next debate !!!

okay ... I know we are not supposed to talk politics here. But as long as we refrain from trashing one guy or overly boosting another, and just talk about problems and issues, it is pretty interesting.

Man ... did we hijak THIS thread.

p.s. we have big issues, but name the country's political system that you'd trade for. Canadian ... hooo-boy! I spend a lot of time there. Lovely country, lovely people, but would not want their government?. England? HA! France HA! Italian HO_HO_HO. Okay ... New Zealand. They all seem happy! Well, we shouldn't accept it, but all through history, everyone has hated their politicians and they ALL behave the same way. At least we have a free press/media and no gulags. Well, Lonnie, Mississippi is a Gulag, but other than that ...
