Van Nuys Airport 16R

Re: Van Nuys Airport 16R

Makes you feel great about being a pilot and involved in the aviation community. Lets hope the world see's how important GA can be!

Re: Van Nuys Airport 16R

We played it three years ago at the Annual COG Fly-IN, that one in Cape Girardeau. Great show.

Re: Van Nuys Airport 16R

After years of hearing what a wonderful film 16R is decided to watch it on Hulu. I fell asleep 1/2 through and have no desire to go back and watch the part I missed.

Re: Van Nuys Airport 16R

Loved the movie

Still literally cry everytime I watch it!

Brian Terwilliger did a great job capturing some of the essence of aviation. On my must watch list for fans of aviation.

Re: Van Nuys Airport 16R

Shortly after One Six Right was produced, I had the opportunity to meet Brian Terwilliger. He was kind enough to accept an invitation to be our keynote speaker at an Angel Flight West luncheon that we held at the Air-Tel Hotel at Van Nuys Airport. He spoke on the making of One Six Right and had the audience in stitches. His presentation was both informative and in some ways even better than the movie.

If we ever have an annual COG gathering out West, I'm fairly certain I can get him to attend.

Todd ... do you actually like airplanes and flying? Just curious.

Re: Van Nuys Airport 16R

Nah, I have no interest at all. Of course I love flying and airplanes. The film was a celebration of old timers and the good old days. B&W pictures of hand propping a Cub in coveralls is for someone else. Just not for me. The soundtrack is awful, unless you are suffering from insomnia. Guess dissenting opinions are not permitted?

Re: Van Nuys Airport 16R

Well, I liked it. Had to go find a train to buzz after seeing it.

Sure it's allowed. Just put 2+2 together and got 5. My bad.

Wow I have watched 16R at least 10 times, brings tears to my eyes. Watched 16L about three times.

Guess I must be an old timer, yep propped a few planes in my coveralls.

In-fact, buzzed a train this summer in the T-6, its always the good ole days here at 1NV1

Re: Van Nuys Airport 16R

Floyd how can you be an old timer if you buzzed a train in a T-6 that means you have a lot of young hot blood in you!

Re: Van Nuys Airport 16R

I wish I could have watched 16R. Unfortunately, it has been blocked out to anybody that does not reside in the U.S. at least that is what came up on my monitor anyway! I don't really understand why? Anybody got answers?

Re: Van Nuys Airport 16R

I bought several when they came out ... sent one to one of my sons, one to by Dad and one to my old instrument intructor. They all loved it and have showed it to many others. Great thing to have and good to support the folks who made it. Another great one is "Barnstormers."

Next September 25 is the Lee Bottom Annual Fly-In, one of the best and prettiest grass strips you will ever find, sitting along the Ohio River just down from Madison Indiana. Take a look (if you like this sort of stuff) :

Re: Van Nuys Airport 16R

Lee Bottom looks like fun... didn't see any Commanders there! Are you going? :)

Re: Van Nuys Airport 16R

Just watched 16R...boy was that pretty. Hard to imagine LA with all that open space in the early years. Only downside was no Commanders and it is on the left coast! :D

Never been to Lee Bottom but I am a contributor and on their mailing list. They just caught my eye and interest a while back. One for the bucket list one day.
